SUNDAY BREAK AT THE DOG PARK - CHRISTOPHER MORLEY, ROSLYN, NY

After days and days of being stuck at home recovering from the flu, I finally got out today for a change of scenery and a breath of fresh air. It was a cold one and we didn't last very long but my Chloe (tan & brown Shepherd mix in back) sorely needed a good run and, so, off we went to visit the dog park at Christopher Morley in Roslyn, NY.

In warmer weather, I'll often drive a distance to visit one of the many dog parks available on Long Island. Today, I preferred to stay relatively close to home. It's not the biggest one available, by far, but it was more than adequate for our short outing and satisfied us both.

Christopher Morley is a terrific Nassau County park that offers many forms of recreation from tennis, golf, swimming, and ice skating to playgrounds, hiking trails, and boat basins designed for model boats.

Feng Shui Long Island New York consultant Laura Cerrano was visiting a friend in St. Francis Hospital yesterday and noticed an interesting vibe of healing. Upon entering into the patients section, you were greeted by a St. Francis Statue and a beautifully light up fountain. One of the basic Feng Shui principles :)

Entering into the space, Ms. Cerrano was greeted by Volunteer workers at the informational desk. After being directed to her friends room, she noticed beautiful words of healing all over the walls that lead to all the patients rooms.

Laura Cerrano wishes that other hospitals could take the time to create an environment that breeds and breaths the idea of healing, not only from the physical aspect, but from body and mind approaches as well. When you combine all 3 areas, you enhance one's healing just that much more efficiently.

It also creates a nice atmopshere for doctors, nurses and the rest of the hospital staff to be part of and allows them to be greater agents of wellness.

The Feng Shui Home-Feng Shui on Long Island New York-A Roslyn Home

As a New York Feng Shui Consultant, I am in different homes on Long Island, New York City, Queens, Brooklyn and beyond. I love working with my clients to address Feng Shui issues that might be found in their homes.

The front door should not be directly opposite a staircase. In many schools of thought in Feng Shui, when you enter one of these homes your energy will automatically "sweep" up. We sometimes forget Energy is supposed to flow through a space, it is not supposed to struggle to get around.

Some of our homes just need less furniture or furniture with "rounded corners" to deflect what we think of as "cutting chi" or "cutting sha"....Sharp points that can cut right into your Energy field. I have, on a few rare occasions, seen homes that were built with Feng Shui principles. I believe builders will soon become more apt to build to suit their clients wishes.

It is astounding how quickly Feng Shui has grown in the last decade. When I began my Feng Shui Business in New York about 13 years ago, almost no one knew what Feng Shui WAS. Now, almost everyone I meet has some knowledge, interest and understanding of it.

This home in Roslyn Long Island New York is a beauty. However, I doubt they will continue building this way. My client did know about the sweep of Energy that can occur and although she had addressed it by deflecting the swift upward sweep, she wondered what else she could do.

I recommended a crystal...I love crystals although I use them sparingly in Feng Shui. Round, faceted crystals, among other things, help to DIFFUSE Energy and keep it flowing through a space. I also recommended to my client that she put something on the landing upstairs to help stop the feeling of upward motion and to feel more grounded.

In Feng Shui, we always look for BALANCE. I suggested she balance the lovely artwork on BOTH sides to direct the eye. Some Feng Shui Consultants might suggest a mirror at the top of the staircase but I always hold a mirror up before hanging it to get the feeling of it. In this particular case, it intensified the upward sweep.

There is no one solution for everyone who wants to make a Feng Shui Cure. There are general guidelines in Feng Shui but each home or business must be evaluated individually. See how it FEELS after you make a change and don't be afraid, you can always correct it.
