As the proposed new Tappan Zee Bridge which spans the Hudson river between Rockland, NY to Westchester, NY reaches the final stretch before construction starts, some South Nyack residents are facing the fact that their homes may be snatched by the state of NY by Eminent Domain. Others may have temporary easements issued, allowing construction to go forward but would have their property returned when the project is completed.

AOver six acres of South Nyack will be swolled up by the proposed new approaches, loosing tax dollars for the village in the process. Current owners will be compensated for the loss of their property at "The fair market value" aas determined by state officials. For residents objecting to both the project or wishing to dispute the value placed on their property there are several things to do. Read more...

If you are thinking of selling or are just curious I would be happy to consult with you on strategies for marketing your home . Call me at (914) 263-3403. Hope you are enjoying your summer.

Well the kids were excited as yesterday was the first pool day at the Nyack Field Club-one of Nyack's wonderful venues for sports and socializing. The water was still too cold for me, but the kids didn't seem to mind. Today is not looking like another pool day, but we can hope. Have several appointments at my new listing at 119 Piermont Ave in South Nyack-interest is very high.Check out the view.

South Nyack residents met with planners and elected officials at the Orangetown Fire Company No.1 firehouse to discuss the possibility of reconnecting the two sections of South Nyack that were created with the construction of the Tappan Zee Bridge in the 1950's. They all saw the possibilty of creating a type of "lid" over the bridge in the South Nyack area that would be turned into a green space with magnificent views of the Hudson River. THey are hoping that the Thruway Authority will see this as a unique opportunity to correct a wrong that was done when the bridge was built. - more to follow.
I would like to wish all a safe and happy holiday weekend.
