After I got over the initial shock and inconvenience of not being able to park quickly at Houst Hardware and grab the must-have items I seem to need nearly every day, I really loved the Woodstock Farm Festival.

You can grab a bounty of fresh fruits and veggies and meander through the myriad of chocolate, vintage clothing and booths featuring local goods. The restaurants are bustling and if you are a meat lover then swing by the Woodstock Meat Store for a little BBQ and music. If they start serving grilled veggie dogs I might linger longer!

At the risk of sounding cliche, I love a parade, but love basking in the community of the Woodstock Farm Festival even more!

Every Wednesday afternoon in the summer!

Oh and if you can't find it...look for the blonde searching for parking and light bulbs!

As a 35 year old, I have been living in the country all my life. Up until just a few years ago, I have never seen a Black Bear in a public area or close to my home. Now they are everywhere. Within the last few years, things have changed both in the population and the feeding habits of the Black Bear found in Woodstock and the Hudson Valley area. Bears are now more prevalent in public areas than ever and pose a small problem to those who are unfamiliar with exactly how to co-exist.

Continuing with my discussion or ranting about Spring. It's definitely here. All the land surrounding my house on the mountain have been a sea of daffodils for the past week or so. So, it's definitely here. Along with the daffodils came a sudden pop of leaves on the trees, that sudden burst of Spring Green! It's still a little on the chilly side. I reluctantly have kept my heat on in the evening . . . Living in the country, you resist turning your heat on once it's Spring!!

So now that it's officially here so are all the rituals of spring. My least favorite - Cleaning the yard. It's always amazing what manages to pop out of the ground once the snow finally disappears. Yes, I know it didn't actually pop out of the ground but it did suddenly appear. The sneakers my son couldn't find all winter - what do you know - they're out at the top of my driveway along with the garden stakes that weren't installed last year.

I guess it's just the same thing I experience every Spring. I expect it to be beautiful and perfect. Well, you know what? It is. It's the start of a new season and when you live in the country it's always special. I'm actually looking forward to meeting a nice couple coming up from New York City to look at houses to buy tomorrow - in the rain. It's always an exciting day, even though we will have make a mad dash to the car before and after entering the houses. We'll be getting wet. But it's all part of being out in the country. Yes, it's spring and it's not always as beautiful as our memories of it. But, when it comes to buying a house in the country - if love it before all the leaves are blooming & the it seems like the rain won't ever give up and, you're shoes are as muddy as if you spent 3 days of peace and music at Woodstock - boy are you gonna love it when everything is lush and colorful - and dry.

Have to remember to take an umbrella with me!
