Are you looking to sand and refinish hardwood floors in Yorktown NY?
It's amazing what a difference refinishing your hardwood flooring can make. Your floors will look brand new and you even have the option to change the color. You can go light, dark, mid tones, or red tones. It can really give your home (or room) a whole new look.
If you have hardwood underneath your carpets, we can restore the beauty of the hardwood underneath. It's amazing what a big difference this can make in your home. And, believe it or not, it is usually less expensive to refinish your floors than to recarpet. Refinishing your wood floors will also improve your home's value and it will be easier to clean and maintain.
At Floor Coverings International, we are a shop at home service. We will bring the "store to your door" so that you can see the flooring and colors in your own home and lighting and color coordinate with your paint colors and decor. When it comes to sanding and refinishing, not only we will help guide you in color selections, but we will also test out a few colors for you on your floor. This is important because every floor is different, so it's best to see what the stain will actually look like on your own floors (rather than a tiny sample).
We offer both the standard refinishing process as well as a dustless sanding system. Dustless sanding costs a bit extra, but many customers feel it's worth it, especially if they have someone with allergies in their household. We offer both oil and water based polyurethane, and we will help you understand the pros and cons on each method.
We are proud of our work, but don't rely on our word...ask our customers! We have won the Angie's list Super Service award 2 years in a row, and you can even check our google reviews online. And, we will gladly provide with a list of over 30 customers to call.
Our estimates are always free. So, when you're ready to refinish your hardwood floors in Yorktown NY 10598, call us at 914-937-2950 and let us "bring the store to your door."

All of us can use more time in the week...and now DocuSign promises to save real estate agents 3 hrs a week. Kind of makes me want to become a real estate agent because I could really use those extra 3 hours.
While I definitely need more down time from work, for purposes of this, I'm going to talk about how I would productively use my time to better build my biz...because if I can do that, ultimte, I can take more than 3 hrs a week.
My big focus would be concentrating on past customers - reconnecting with them to see if they have friends that they can refer and who knows...the hope is that soon they will be ready for their next flooring project.
Past customers is where it's at...they already know you and your work. And, they are happy with you. I love doing work with past customers...much higher close rate and for sure more fun. I already know their decor, I know their tastes and I know their general budget. There is a level of trust there - trust in that you will do a good job, that you are giving them good advice, and that you will deliver on what you say you will.
I would start by making phone calls and maybe for some of the commercial jobs, I would stop by. I would also send some emails (and I need to be sure to get my monthly email newsletter out).

I couldn't help but laugh...my customer called my competition (that annoying carpet guy on TV) and wasn't treated very well. Her reaction was classic.
On Saturday, I had a rush appointment with a customer who had a flood in her basement and needs the carpet replaced. Because it was a crazy holiday weekend, I just rushed to the appointment and was not able to touch base with my contact at the restoration company, so I didn't have all the needed info (e.g. what type of carpet they had...so we could get one at replacement value). I figured it wouldn't be a problem since there is usually a left over piece there, so I can figure out. But, apparently there wasn't.
I couldn't get in touch w/ my guy (not to worry...as we should have everything resolved and ordered Tues morning), but we wanted a way that she could pick out a carpet and color.
We had the receipt from the original carpet...which of course has absolutely no info about the carpet (e.g. brand, fiber, weight) and it's cleverly disguised with a private label so no one can figure it out. (Of course for insurance purposes, the sample had been sent out to a chemical lab so that no is cheated, but I didn't have the info).
....so, my customer calls the annoying guy on TV. She is on hold forever. Then, she gets someone who puts her on hold and then hangs up. She says "I think they did that on purpose as they wanted me to go to their website (which BTW, has no info on it either). Then, she calls again and gets someone after a while. She is annoyed and first is told she can't get any of that info. She starts yelling and then gets transferred. Then, someone gave her a bit of info (but not the real info we needed) and she said, "See they can give it you, they just don't want to."
Then, I got on, got a bit more info but we couldn't get type of fiber, oz weight, etc. I kept saying, "I don't understand why you don't have the info." She then got on and started yelling at them. She said, "Put me on with a sales person. A sales person would have all this info...they need it to sell the carpet - any sales person would know that." He said he couldn't do that and the arguing continued. She said, "you know you guys are infuriating and wasting my time. Either put me on w/ a sales person, or I'm going to waste more of your time and request an appt from a sales rep to come here and give me an estimate and all the info I need and not buy from you." It went on and on, and needless to say, she does not intend to buy from them.
We will take care of her, and I helped her select carpet color as well as paint colors for accent walls, so she appreciates my time and advice and we should be able to get her basement back to normal soon.

This morning's customer was looking for a granite countertop and backsplash combo for her home in Westchester County - fun design work for me. There seem to be a lot out there who want to spruce up their homes by making modest changes. The cabinets are usually the most expensive part of the kitchen, and if they are in good condition, it makes it easy to upgrade your kitchen without spending a fortune.
Her cabinets are similar to her floors - butterscotch oak. And, she has 2 tones of warm browns on the walls. She wanted a light creamy granite that would tie the tones together (as well as give her flexibility for the future when she is hoping to stain the hardwood floors a dark brown.
I found her this Santa Cecilia granite which seems to do the trick. The color in this picture isn't giving the full effect, but it does have some yellows/golds that gives it more warmth and ties in with the cabinets and floors.

From there, we went on to the backsplash. She wanted natural stone w/ some warmth but a bit darker than the granite. I have the stone in mind that I have to find on Monday/Tuesday, but we found one that is close and works great color-wise. We then wanted to jazz it up a bit, so I found a random interlocking mosaic - a combo of glass and natural stone...and it goes PERFECTLY. The top row will have 4 x 4 tile and the bottom 3 rows 4 x 4 in a brick lay. Here is a "simulation of the look/pattern" - not 100% color correct and it's done on power point, but hopefully, you can imagine what this combo will look like when it's professionally installed. I can't wait to have the after pictures on this one.
