Top Neighbors: The magic behind the mirrors
You will never have to pay to be listed as a top neighbor. Period. That important detail clarified, let's discuss how we arrive at two "top neighbors" for a given region:
Localism is a bustling collection of hyper-local communities, and the top neighbors should reflect those members who are most active. When ranking users in a given region, several factors are considered. To get your foot in the proverbial door, you need to have posted at least one "Localism" article or photo for the region.
The very best way to quickly rise to #1 is to post high-quality local content. Keeping a steady strem of incoming posts and photos will massively tilt the scales in your favor.
What doesn't count toward the top neighbor ranking? ActiveRain points and community sponsorships. The top neighbor spots will always go to the most active members in a region. We want to create a level playing field that encourages the growth of communities — talent and dedication are required to win the day.
At Floor Coverings International, we are a shop at home service. We will bring the "store to your door" so that you can see the flooring and colors in your own home and lighting and color coordinate with your paint colors and decor. When it comes to sanding and refinishing, not only we will help guide you in color selections, but we will also test out a few colors for you on your floor. This is important because every floor is different, so it's best to see what the stain will actually look like on your own floors (rather than a tiny sample).
We offer both the standard refinishing process as well as a dustless sanding system. Dustless sanding costs a bit extra, but many customers feel it's worth it, especially if they have someone with allergies in their household. We offer both oil and water based polyurethane, and we will help you understand the pros and cons on each method.
While I definitely need more down time from work, for purposes of this, I'm going to talk about how I would productively use my time to better build my biz...because if I can do that, ultimte, I can take more than 3 hrs a week.

On Saturday, I had a rush appointment with a customer who had a flood in her basement and needs the carpet replaced. Because it was a crazy holiday weekend, I just rushed to the appointment and was not able to touch base with my contact at the restoration company, so I didn't have all the needed info (e.g. what type of carpet they had...so we could get one at replacement value). I figured it wouldn't be a problem since there is usually a left over piece there, so I can figure out. But, apparently there wasn't.
....so, my customer calls the annoying guy on TV. She is on hold forever. Then, she gets someone who puts her on hold and then hangs up. She says "I think they did that on purpose as they wanted me to go to their website (which BTW, has no info on it either). Then, she calls again and gets someone after a while. She is annoyed and first is told she can't get any of that info. She starts yelling and then gets transferred. Then, someone gave her a bit of info (but not the real info we needed) and she said, "See they can give it you, they just don't want to." 
Her cabinets are similar to her floors - butterscotch oak. And, she has 2 tones of warm browns on the walls. She wanted a light creamy granite that would tie the tones together (as well as give her flexibility for the future when she is hoping to stain the hardwood floors a dark brown.
From there, we went on to the backsplash. She wanted natural stone w/ some warmth but a bit darker than the granite. I have the stone in mind that I have to find on Monday/Tuesday, but we found one that is close and works great color-wise. We then wanted to jazz it up a bit, so I found a random interlocking mosaic - a combo of glass and natural stone...and it goes PERFECTLY. The top row will have 4 x 4 tile and the bottom 3 rows 4 x 4 in a brick lay. Here is a "simulation of the look/pattern" - not 100% color correct and it's done on power point, but hopefully, you can imagine what this combo will look like when it's professionally installed. I can't wait to have the after pictures on this one.
