Avon Lake to welcome indoor skate park
Bob Ellis and Ron Rupert local entrepreneurs came across the vacant space in Avon Lake and with some creative thinking and planning are building and indoor space for adults and children who love to skate and roller blade.
If approved by City Council, the Avon Lake Indoor Skate Park will officially occupy the 15,000-square-foot space which previously housed Competitive Edge Fitness Center in the Lake Road theater plaza on the west side of the city.
"There's nothing around like the kind of facility we're doing," Ellis said.
After spending a few months checking out the area's indoor and outdoor parks, the owners combined best of both worlds in their new park's design, which they claim has something for everyone.
Ellis described the roughly $100,000 floor plan complete with wooden and masonry stunts with difficulty levels ranging from beginner to professional.
"I believe there's 20 initial jumps and ramps that you could take from one side of the park to the other side," Ellis said.
