What you do in your profession is a noble service to the American Dream - and we salute you!
Over two hundred years ago, the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock were a people who had left the easy life, overcome long odds, and survived hardship. At the first Thanksgiving Feast, as they faced another long hard winter, they knew they would overcome. They had hope for a Spring Season that would return with growth and promise of a future harvest.
As we face the Winter of '2008-'2009, we need to remember that Realtors are Pilgrims too! We too have left the easy life, overcome long odds, and survived hardship. We too will feast at Thanksgiving, even while we face a winter that we know we will overcome. We will have hope for a Spring that will return with growth and promise of a future harvest.
Right now, it may seem hard to summon a spirit of Thanksgiving and Gratitude. Realtors have shared with me in recent days that "survival" is foremost in their mind, and that the "unthinkable" is no longer "unthinkable". Yes, times are tough. Maybe it has been a while since you last made budget. Maybe it has been too long since you had a closing. Maybe selling clients are hurting while buyer clients are fickle. Maybe there are foreclosures, and short sales, and families in crisis. But there is always hope!
As a Realtor - you are an unsung hero in the fabric of the American Economy. You serve in ways the public hardly understands. You may be helping those who have lost a spouse, or a job, or their health. You no doubt include encouragement and hope as you serve in difficult times. It's rewarding to be able to help in this way. But you also need to have a financial reward. We understand and are working to help you with that!
Just For The Day - This Thanksgiving, Some things need to be set beyond reach of momentary struggles. Our prayer for you is that you will be able to take a moment to celebrate Family, Hope, and all that is Good. We hope that the Holiday brings a time to be with family. The strength in collective numbers is healing. We can look at smiling faces, and see the wonderful ways that former struggles have been overcome. In some cases, challenges are still being faced, but past victories give us hope for renewal and better days ahead.
It is a time, in our noble Pilgrim Tradition to count the good and rekindle hope. The landscape of your profession has been hit by a "perfect storm", but it is still ripe with possibility and hope. While you work for what may seem a meager harvest, those who are continuing to serve the Noble Goals of the Profession will continue to plant good seed and to fertilize growing relationships. It will pay off!
The market will turn around. Peace and Prosperity will come again to our Great Land. The Pilgrim Spirit is alive and well in America. This is a Spirit of strength, hope, and faith in Providence to overcome adversity. Your noble service to the American Dream will be honored with future business that comes your way.
This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for the positive reception that has been extended to HomeFinder Channel 100. We have worked to inject something new into the real estate marketplace. We are creating the possibility to reduce costs and increase the financial rewards. Many Realtors chose to cut something "old school" that was not working and try something new that costs less and does more! We are grateful to those brokers and agents who accepted our offer to become "Partners in Progress". When you made us part of your marketing plan, we began working beside you, working together with you to plant good seed, help you be visible in the marketplace, and fertilize the growing hope of better days ahead.
"Partners in Progress" Face Challenges Together.
Sincerely,
Buckeye CableSystem

Today, I heard two interesting comments that I thought were worth blogging about.
1. The oil companies have made a lot of money over the last few years. Why not have the oil industry fund the bail out of the auto industry? Comments............
2. The auto industry needs money to retool for the more fuel efficient autos of the future. The big three auto manufactures already are producing fuel efficient auto in other countries. Why not have them crate the tooling in those foreign countries and bring them back to the USA. Comments...............

Toledo, OH
It's a Wednesday evening, light breeze, comfortable temperatures and a setting that God must have designed especially for this event. Friendship Park - located in the Point Place neighborhood of Toledo.
I had the honor of attending the 4th Annual Support the Troops Rally that is held in my little berg and am still in awe of all the folks that turned out. From infancy to WWII Vets - and every age in between. All together to celebrate and honor our servicemen and women for the sacrifices they give.
All the branches of the armed forces were represented - Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, and all the respective National Guard units. The faces of these men and women will remain vivid in my mind for a long, long time. They are our neighbors, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, cousins, friends, co-workers, classmates and friends we haven't met yet. They are the ones that protect the freedoms that we enjoy today.
AND MAY GOD BLESS THEM ALL!!
One of the older veterans asked a woman, "Can you name two people in this world that would die for you?" The woman paused - apparently a little too long for the older vet's taste - so he said, "Jesus Christ and the American GI."
I was truly humbled to be among them. To see their smiles, to hear them talk with young children about what it's like to be a soldier. To watch the youngsters of today develop a desire to be a soldier tomorrow. I can't find the words to express how incredible this was.
So, in the absence of words, I'd like to share some photos with you. And as you look at the photos ... please say a prayer. For their safe return, for their families, for their children. The sacrifices are great and we owe them an extreme debt of gratitude.
The next time you see one of our defenders, please thank them for your freedom.
This man had served proudly and was a true pleasure to talk with. His stories are many and his pride unmistakable.
Young Marines - Bloodstripe and cover
The Sea Cadets practicing their flag presentation and folding.
Pride - it can't be anything else. Pride.
The Patriot Guard Riders were in attendance. What a tremendous group of people!
A special brotherhood that is not defined by age.
A HUGE flag that was unrolled by a group of active military, retired military, spouses, children and supporters. An awesome sight to see.
Thanks to Howard Pinkley of The Flag Store in Point Place for providing this breathtaking symbol of American freedom.
Members of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club.
GOD BLESS US ALL! If not for these wonderful folks we would not be able to enjoy the life that we do.

I love FREE advertising!
Just 5 houses away from my listing, Extreme Home Makeover is currently filming. Hopefully I will get a few interested buyers and/or sellers from the throngs of people walking by morning, noon, and night. The property is already pending, but maybe somewone will call asking about price.
I love FREE advertising.
I went over to the build site tonight. It's amazing how organized it was. Several of the people (most likely producers) were firing up the crowd with a good old-fashioned Ohio State vs. Michigan fight song competition.
Then they had a group of grade school (6 or 8 years old) cheerleaders all dressed up and doing a "Move That Bus" cheer.
Police all over the place directing traffic.
I was told that they offer the neighbors hotel rooms for the week.
Anybody else have any interesting Extreme Home Makeover Stories?

Ty and his team are in Toledo and I am honored to be a volunteer!!! This Thursday, I will be among many volunteers helping to build a home for a deserving Toledo family. I am so thrilled at the prospect! I looked up the schedule and I am on Drywall day. I don't know they first thing about drywall but I will be there at 6 am sharp (I haven't seen 6 am in a VERY LONG TIME!).
Unfortunately, we are not allowed cameras at the site or I would come back with some very cool pictures! Maybe I will go back after my shift and see if I can get some. From the talk around town, there are a lot of people who are planning on doing the same thing!!
