Over the weekend several tornados hit NW Ohio and Dundee Michigan. This is where I grew up and where my family lives. Fortunately, my family is ok, but many of my hometown friends have lost everything. Below is information on how you can help whether you live locally or across the globe. jay

Genoa Bankis accepting donations for relief at all six locations of the bank. Cash donations and checks will be accepted and should be made payable to the American Red Cross with "Tornado Disaster Relief" in the memo line. Monetary donations are alsobeing accepted at all Recovery efforts in Fulton County, Ohio in full swing after tornadoes strike branches in Fulton County, as well as at area Huntington Bank and Fifth Third Bank locations.
Food donations are being collected at Arrowhead Behavioral Healthin Maumee at 1725 Timber Line Rd. from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Items needed include: money, garbage bags, rope, work gloves, mediums size totes, laundry baskets, antibacterial wipes, brooms, dustpans, plastic cups/plates/silverware, paper bags for sack lunches, Ziploc-type bags, water, individual drinks, fresh fruit, peanut butter, jelly, bread, lunchmeat, hotdogs, tortillas (for wraps). An updated list is at www.mainstreetlife.org. This effort will assist the Walbridge area recovery.
Shubies Ice Cream, 640 Dixie Hwy in Rossford, will be holding a carwash fundraiser all day Tuesday. All of the money will go to those affected by the tornados.
Lammon Brothers Landscaping in the Delta area is taking any brush for free. They normally do this but at this time they are also accepting larger sizes due to the emergency in the area.
Luckies Barn & Grill in Oregon would like to help the cause by donating 15% of their total sales from Thursday, June 10. It is also "bike night" where people can dunk the bartenders in the dunk tank. The price is $3 for five throws and 100% of this will be donated to the relief effort.
Jed's on Holland Sylvania and Angola will hold a 50/50 raffle Wednesday with half of the proceeds benefiting tornado victims. Also 20% of their sales will go to victims.
The Town Center at Levis Commonsin Perrysburg is accepting cleanup supplies and food in conjunction with ISOH/Impact. The drop-off site is in front of JB's Sarnie Shoppe. Requested items include:
- A 5-gallon bucket with 1 gallon bleach, 2 bottles dish soap, 2 bottles disinfectant cleaner, 4 sponges (heavy duty scrub pads), 1 pair gloves, 1 box plastic trash bags
- A 5-gallon bucket with a mix of canned vegetables and fruits, ready-to-eat canned meats, rice, beans, dried fruit, nuts, dry powdered milk, baby food (no glass containers please), a manual can opener.
- Please no water, glass items or clothing.
