The other evening, my husband and I went to a local restaurant for dinner. We like to sit at the bar, so we can play the Trivia game. It's easier for me to see the TV screen close up (even with my glasses!), and he likes to have our "own personal waiter" handy. We also usually get a seat right away, which is always nice.
So this past Tuesday night, we expected to see our usual guy/girl bartending team, who've had that shift for quite a while now. But this evening, the guy was missing. And wouldn't you know, it was packed! Almost every table in the bar area was full, as was the bar, and the girl half of our team was doing it all.
Oh, she had occassional help from other servers, but it was mostly her watch...and she was fantastic! Not only did she not get flustered, being pulled in 50 different directions, she even knew - without me saying a word - that I wanted more salad dressing. How'd she do that??
I don't know how old she is (probably in her mid to late 20s), but she could teach a lesson on maintaining composure and professionalism...under not-so-great circumstances...and still do it with a smile. : )
Wouldn't it be great if we all raised the bar just a little bit today?
