Raising the bar

North Olmsted, OH Real Estate, Sue Gabriel, REALTOR®: Real Estate Agent in North Olmsted, OH

The other evening, my husband and I went to a local restaurant for dinner. We like to sit at the bar, so we can play the Trivia game. It's easier for me to see the TV screen close up (even with my glasses!), and he likes to have our "own personal waiter" handy. We also usually get a seat right away, which is always nice.

So this past Tuesday night, we expected to see our usual guy/girl bartending team, who've had that shift for quite a while now. But this evening, the guy was missing. And wouldn't you know, it was packed! Almost every table in the bar area was full, as was the bar, and the girl half of our team was doing it all.

Oh, she had occassional help from other servers, but it was mostly her watch...and she was fantastic! Not only did she not get flustered, being pulled in 50 different directions, she even knew - without me saying a word - that I wanted more salad dressing. How'd she do that??

I don't know how old she is (probably in her mid to late 20s), but she could teach a lesson on maintaining composure and professionalism...under not-so-great circumstances...and still do it with a smile. : )

We left her a generous tip, with a note letting her know how impressed we were with the job she did. And yes, I know, that was her job...but she could have easily lost her cool several times that night. It really was amazing to watch her! And this morning, I shipped a note off to her manager. I'm sure they get their share of unhappy customers - I thought they'd appreciate hearing something good. And hopefully give her a much deserved "attagirl"!

Wouldn't it be great if we all raised the bar just a little bit today?
