As a way of helping those that are relocating to our area, I have decided to introduce different professional and business people in our area that provide needed services.
This blog is to introduce you to Bob Terry. My husband and I got acquainted with Bob Terry when we opened a State Farm Health Saving Account. Bob is the local agent for State Farm. I didn't have a picture of Bob to use here, but you can visit his website here.
For those of you that don't know this, State Farm has banking services. In fact, I check with my local bank and several places, trying to find a local place to open the health savings account. State Farm was the only place that I found that we could do that locally.
As we visited with Bob and we asked him about other services that he can offer, we discovered that he is a Certified Financial Planning Practitioner under the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards, Inc. He holds various professional designations and has almost 18 years experience in insurance and financial services.
The State Farm office does home mortgages and commercial lending too! Our office appreciates our clients having another good source for loans.
My family has found Bob to be very client oriented. He seeks out the services that his company can offer that will benefit his client. I've only heard good things about him and believe him to hold to the highest standards.
So, if you're moving to our area Idabel, Oklahoma or anywhere in McCurtain County, OR if you already live here - Bob Terry can offer you many financial services that you may need - insurance, banking, mortgages, retirement accounts, financial planning, etc. His office is located at 902 NE Lincoln Rd,Idabel, Oklahoma 74745 and their phone number is: 580-286-5627.

Even though Idabel's population is only about 7200 people, we are fortunate to have a branch of the Southeastern Oklahoma State University right here. If you are thinking of relocating anywhere within our area, you will want to know about the McCurtain County Campus of SEOSU. Classes are often attended not only by students fresh out of high school but by many adult students.
The Higher Learning Center started out in downtown Idabel pre-1980. Soon plans for a new facility came into being and the E T Dunlap Center for Higher Education was placed into service in 1980. Classes were taught by three different institutions, 2 of which were junior colleges. Carl Albert State College and Eastern Oklahoma State College offered the lower level classes and Southeastern Oklahoma State University offered classes above the level that the state colleges could.
Also East Central University offered a Bachelor of Nursing program and Murray State College offered a Legal Secretary Program. Both programs were conducted through interactive television.
Southeastern Oklahoma State University took over the E T Dunlap Center in 2005 as a branch of its institution and now it is called the McCurtain County Campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
The University continues to cooperate with with the other institutions to provide courses and degree programs to students.
Their website has a lof of useful information online such as handbooks, faculty, and schedules.
The higher education program in McCurtain County has benefitted many, many families in our area. They are located on the northern by-pass around Idabel. Their contact information is Phone: 580-286-9431, or toll free at 888-286-9431.

The McCurtain Gazette, our local newspaper, today published the news that court records indicate that more than 71% the 719 civil cases filed in 2007 were debt related, breach of financial contract, or foreclosure.
A more detailed look at the cases reveals that as gasoline and food prices climbed citizens used their credit cards more for purchases with more of them becoming unable to pay the credit card when the bill came in.
