Recycling Has Returned to Warr Acres After the City had to shut down the previous recycling program due to abuse, a group of citizens has banded together and volunteered to assist with manning a new recycling program. On the first Saturday of each month, between the hours of 9am and 4pm, and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. A group of volunteers will be staffing the recycling project to keep it at no cost to the City for employees. This will take place at Jesse Simmons Park which is located at NW 33rd and Hammond. Recycled items can be plastic (#1 and #2), aluminum and tin cans. Clear and colored glass items may also be recycled. Statistically people who recycle end up with about 17% less trash to put out for the sanitation crews. The police department will be patrolling for any illegal dumping which carries a stiff fine.

Dreams Do Come True

Congresswoman Mary Fallin invited citizens to attend a town hall meeting at the Warr Acres Community Center on Wednesday, August 27th, 2008. Congresswoman Mary Fallin represents the Fifth District of Oklahoma, which includes most of Oklahoma County and all of Pottawatomie and Seminole Counties.

Congresswoman Fallin currently serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Committee on Small Business, and the Committee on Natural Resources. She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the National Republican Congressional Committee, and serves as Small Business Chair on the Republican Policy Committee and Vice Chairman of the Women's Caucus.

Nancy and I were impressed at her enthusiasm and desire to help the district she serves. We wish to support her in anyway we can. Congresswoman Fallin desires public feedback along with prioritization on subjects such as securing the safety of our roads and bridges, making healthcare more affordable, reducing gas prices, balancing the budget, fighting the global war on terror, ending illegal immigration, and strengthening our economy. Below is a link to her website.

AAA breaks ground in Oklahoma City

Thursday August 21 ,2008, AAA broke ground for the new operations center in Oklahoma City. It is said that it will employee over 800 - 1200 people and serve members in several states with travel, insurance benefits, and service. The new building will be 147,000 or 198,000 square feet and energy efficient according to the data available.

We want to welcome AAA to the community. I know they will contribute to our economy while benefitting the residents of the Oklahoma City area.
