Yuki Sushi, Alliston Ontario

YuKi Sushi, Alliston Ontario, the "new" Sushi Restaurant in town.
Yuki Sushi Alliston Ontario
OK, "new" is relative. But I finally walked over to the Southwest corner of Victoria and Paris streets and tried the fare at Alliston newest and only Sushi Restaurant.

I decided to order a Bento Box and an order of Edamame and walk back to the office and sample the fare of this intimate restaurant in downtown Alliston.

I sampled the Salmon Bento Box, which included a salad, miso soup, sashimi, sushi and a roll.

I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh, very tasty, and I found the Miso soup and Edamame not salty at all, which seems to be my most common complaint.

Now, this restaurant, is not an "all-you-can-eat" restaurant like Sushi Hama in Bolton or Akira Sushi in Barrie. What you might fall short in quantity, I feel you will gain in quality. I think there is enough variety in the dinner choices to satisfy almost everybody and enough choice in the a la carte menu for evening the discerning sushi palate.

I have not seen dishes like the Goma-ae (Japanese Style Spinach Salad), Spicy Sashimi Salad (Sashimi and vegetables tossed in a spicy sauce), Chirashi (Assorted Sashimi on a bed of rice), nor a la carte Sashimi like Maguro (Tuna), Albacore (Longfin Tuna), Izumi dai (Tilapia), Ika (Cuttlefish), Amaebi (Sweet Shrimp) in any of the local "all you can eat" sushi restaurants.

If you live in New Tecumseth or surrounding area, you no longer have far to drive to sate your craving for fine Sushi.

The fare at YuKi (pronounced You-key) Sushi, located on the West side of Paris Street south of Victoria Street, 16 Paris Street, Alliston is anything BUT yucky!. Helen and I will soon be back for dinner.

CR-V comes to Alliston

Chris Smith - South Simcoe, Caledon, King, Orangeville Real Estate: Real Estate Agent in New Tecumseth, ON

CR-V comes to Alliston!

The first 2012 Honda CR-V rolled off Honda Canada Manufacturing (HCM) the production line in Alliston on January 23rd, 2012.

This fourth generation CR-V, considered a global model, is produced in 10 countries and sold in over 160 countries around the world.

The CR-V is the fourth distinct model to be manufactured in the Alliston Honda facilities, joining the Civic, the MDX and the ZDX. Production is back to peak levels, about 1,600 vehicles per day between the two assembly plants as the Alliston plant seems to have recovered from slow downs due to parts shortages as a result of two natural disasters in 2011. HCM employs approximately 4,200 people in Alliston and is responsible for many more local jobs in secondary and tertiary automotive industries as well as logistics and other spin-off industries.

This news bodes well for local jobs and housing markets!

Reduce your exposure to "Germs"

Chris Smith - South Simcoe, Caledon, King, Orangeville Real Estate: Real Estate Agent in New Tecumseth, ON

One of the TV shows that are on "auto-tune" in our home is BT, Breakfast Television, a Morning Show out of Toronto that combines local and international News with Weather and Sports and adds information on upcoming local events and other topical information.

Last week, as I was passing through our kitchen, I heard the host mention a European study that indicated we should be putting our toilet lids down, before we flush. Now I can remember hearing this ten years ago, but as with most things, we can develop bad habits over time.

The reasoning behind this is that the act of flushing a toilet can create an explosion of germs and bacteria to become airborne. I have heard elsewhere that these germs can be distributed as many as seven feet. Think of your washroom/bathroom and picture the items that might be within seven feet of your toilet. Often this can include towels, toothbrushes, as well as yourself!

Developing the habit of lowering the toilet lid before you flush will lessen your (and your loved ones) exposure to germs.
