Rattray Marsh - Where Boardwalks And Birdwalks Go Hand In Hand

Jenny Kotulak: Real Estate Agent in Oakville, ON

We finally got a little snow last night. Not much but enough to cover the grass and send the salters out onto the roads. Not enough to make drivers slow down and drive a little more carefully in winter conditions

Here are how things looked this morning out my dining room window.

Cold weather is not enough to keep anyone inside if you are dressed properly and that includes long underwear, but I talked about that in a previous post. I thought today would be a great day to take a walk along the boardwalk at Rattray Marsh in Mississauga.

Rattray Marsh is located in a beautiful neighbourhood of homes in South West Mississauga in the village of Clarkson. On the shores of Lake Ontario, this area offers trails through the forest and boardwalks overlooking the streams and marshy area. A new, permanent path now links the marsh to Jack Darling Park, a great spot for picnics and family gatherings.

A view to the East offers a silhouette of the Toronto skyline and the impressive CN Tower

The Toronto skyline is impressive even when it isn't clear. It seems more mysterious and less imposing.

The marsh itself was very quiet today. No ducks or geese on the thin ice.

The rocky shore of Lake Ontario was very slippery and icey today. The only action in the lake today was the wave. The temperature is going to have to rise more than a few degrees before the birds and the boats return.
