This is a little late. Thanksgiving weekend was a couple of weekends ago, but I have been a little slow in organizing photographs. My computer crashed, so there were a few days where I had to use the public use clunker in the office. I don't download personal photos to that computer.
Anyhow, the kids came back for the Thanksgiving weekend, and we had a very relaxing time. Malcolm came back with a fancy new haircut and Sarah came back sporting her usual smile. It was almost as if they had never been anywhere, they just settled back into their normal routine very quickly. The weekend, alas, went by very quickly, and Malcolm took the bus back to his new home, and Sarah hopped on the train back to hers.
We managed to have quite a bit of fun while they were here though, and I think they were happy for the break. They did seem to do a lot of growing up in the few weeks that they were away. Even though they are big city kids now, there's still enough country in them to have some good old fashioned country fun.
*Sigh*, now it's back to talking on the phone and Facebook.
Oh well, Christmas really isn't that far off now.

Huyck's Point is one of those little treasures in Prince Edward County that isn't very well known to people who don't live in the area.
Prince Edward County has a lot of beautiful waterfront and some very nice beaches (among the finest in the province) such as North Beach and Sandbanks Provincial Park, however, this beach is a little more rugged and very rarely do I ever encounter another soul. It really is off the beaten track.
This is a perfect place to let your dog off the leash and let her splash around in the water. I always see evidence that people fish here, but I have never actually ever seen anyone else there (other than the people who are with me). The beach itself stretches around a corner and you can walk quite a fair way down it.
If you enjoy skipping rocks, then this will definitely be the place for you. It takes thousands of years for a rock to wash its way onto shore from the bottom of the lake and only a few seconds to throw it back to see how many times you can make it skip
. Because of the idyllic hours that I have accumulated at Huyck's point I am now an expert rock skipper. Everyone has to have a talent or two. This now happens to be one of mine. I'm trying to think what my other talent may be.
Prince Edward County is really becoming a hot spot for refugees from the Greater Toronto Area who are tired of the hours long trek to get to the Muskokas just to spend half a weekend in the cottages that they paid way too much for. Accordingly, the County now offers vinyards, wineries, boutique restaurants and shopping, live theatre productions to go along with the breathtaking scenery. The big bonus for many is that it's all within a 2 hour drive of Toronto.
I have a feeling that Huyck's point will be one of those places that the tourists and weekenders won't discover. I'm happy with that because then I'd have to find somewhere else where the dog can run around and splash around in the water.

Last Year I was contacted by fellow Active Rain member Ty Lacroix from Envelope Real Estate in London, Ontario. Ty had a client who happened to own a beautiful 93 acre parcel of land in Prince Edward County, just south of Trenton and wanted it sold. London is about a 4 hour drive from here, so Ty referred the business to me
Vacant land can be a bit of a hard sell, especially in a fairly remote area like the southern tip of Prince Edward County, and a bit of patience was required, but I'm happy to say that we now have a firm deal in place and it will be closing soon. The Buyers are a green energy power corporation, and they are building wind turbines in the area, so it's a great fit.
Thank you very much for the referral Ty, I appreciate it very much, and I'm glad I was able to serve your client. Here's an appropriately titled video by local singer Kathleen Edwards. If you ever get a chance to see her in concert (she's on tour quite a bit) don't miss it, she puts on a great show.
