Have you ever gone to work wearing one black and one blue sock. I once arrived at work with one black shoe and one blue because they were the same style. In the dark of my closet, I could not tell that they were different. Are you laughing? Just ask people if they have ever done something like this. You will be surprised how often this happens because ~ So many of us dress in the dark.
If you are fixing up your closet to sell or to stay, see if you can improve the lighting in your closet. A couple of hints - do not use halogen lights if you have limited space and have things stacked to the ceiling. The older style bulbs get very hot and may cause some damage. Secondly, put the lights on timers as you are going to forget shutting them off about 1/2 the time.
When you hang your clothes or put away your socks, try to separate the colours. Keep navy and black as far away from each other as possible. Put clothes away when there is enough light to see what you are doing. Watch out for black and navy T shirts.
I once had five black suits and about 4 pair of black wool pants that I wore regularly to work (and no I was not an undertaker). While they looked similar in the dark, the fabric was slightly different and the shades of black were not equal. It was impossible to find and match the pants or skirt that went with each jackets. Eventually, I thought to sew a little loop of coloured thread on the inside of the pants/skirt and the jacket. One suit had bright orange thread loops, the next had a turquoise loop on each piece, the third suit had red and so on. In the morning, it was a dream to search through the separates and find the right pants or skirt for the jacket by just looking for a coloured thread loop. This is not just a woman's issue. The men I work with often show up in, what is clearly, pieces from different suits. Thread counts.
Eliminate your closet angst with coloured thread and ligjhts.

Several years ago I was on my way into the office. As I crossed the street from the carpark to the building I was limping. I had my arms full with a briefcase, a purse and some shopping to be returned. My thoughts went along the lines of "Oh crap, now another problem with my feet. Maybe not my feet, then the heel is off the shoe and now my lunch hour will be used sitting at the repair shop. Can nothing go right today?" When I finally limped into my office and unloaded all my things, I took a good look at my shoes. While they were both navy blue, they were from different sets with different heel heights and toes. Merde. All I could do all day was laugh. This was another case of dressing in the dark and not really paying attention.

Sandy Hill Strathcona on the Parc condos
Strathcona on the Parc is a 10 unit residential restoration, renovation and infill project located in the Sandy Hill Heritage Conservation District. The development features the restoration of the two existing Queen Anne Revival heritage houses, and a new 17,000 square metre, four storey addition at the rear of the property to accommodate eight new residential condominium units.
Strathcona on the Parc is designed in a contemporary vernacular sympathetic to, but distinct from, the existing heritage residences. It demonstrates that residential intensification in one of the Ottawa’s Heritage Conservation Districts can be achieved with a strategy of careful restoration and sensitive infill.
Some of the jury comments: “A clean, clear and honest infill project with good scale and proportion. The project is a sympathetic juxtaposition without crowding the adjacent buildings. It uses high-quality materials, fits well among the established character and streetscape, and appropriately considers and treats all facades.”
