Beaverton Oregon Parks – Willow Creek Nature Park - By Todd Clark

Are you looking for a little exercise and a place you can take the whole family? This is the park for you. This hiking trail is something you can have your kids bring their bike, scooter, or even roller skates, like our 5 year old did today, and not have to worry about them getting dirty no matter how much it has rained recently.

You see, Willow Creek Nature Park is walking path that is either paved or a wooden foot bridge the entire way. Not once did we get our feet dirty even though it had been raining for the past 5 days. (This made it pleasurable for me because I didn’t have to worry about cleaning out the car later.) It was mostly flat pretty much the entire way which makes for no complaints from the kids and the length it isn’t too long for those short, little legs either.

If you are looking to get out for a nice nature hike with the kids, then I suggest you check out this park as it is pretty good size yet still only takes about 30 minutes to walk from one end and back and has plenty of parking at one of the many entrances to the park.

I hope you enjoy this park as much and my family and I did.

My daughter’s Girl Scout troop took a little field trip to PETCO in Beaverton and I was impressed!

Yesterday, my daughter’s Girl Scout troop met at the PETCO in downtown Beaverton and that is where they met Chris, the person at the store in charge of the PETCO field trip. I have to say right from the beginning, Chris had the kids and the parents interested. (I actually learned a few things, like Bearded Dragons are social lizards and the sell out quickly because of it.)

The kids got to see birds, mice, rats, snakes, lizards, a tortoise, and fish up close and in some cases even hold them. I have to say, prior to going on this field trip, when I thought of PETCO, I thought it really as only a place to buy food and stuff for my pets. I thought of it as a box store for pet supplies and the animals they had were in cages all day and never handled. BOY WAS I WRONG!

It was clear that these animals were handled and they enjoyed it, because unlike a lot of pet stores, these animals were used to people and craved the attention. I have had pet ferrets in my life and this is one animal that if you bought it at a pet store you could count on having to train it not to bite for the next 3 months. Not the ones from this PETCO store! They clearly knew Chris and couldn’t wait to be handled and petted by the kids.

If you are planning to get a small pet, I wouldn’t hesitate sending anyone to this store. These pets were loved and well taken care of by a staff that was not that of a normal pet store. The kids learned a lot and though they don’t carry pig food, (we have a pet pig) they are still a store that showed the kids how to hold and love an animal that will be a source of joy for years to come.

If you are in Beaverton, stop off and say hi to Chris and meet the animals he clearly cares so much about. This is clearly more than just a job to him. I truly felt he cared for every one of these animals just like they were his own and were more like fostering them until they found a home than just selling them.

Relocating to Beaverton, OR

I've assisted many buyers relocating to Beaverton, OR from all areas of the nation: San Diego, Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Boston and parts in between. The majority of buyers relocating to Beaverton typically move up from California. Even with families "down south" relocating to Beaverton makes sense. Travel is relatively inexpensive forth/back, and it's a short commute . . . about 4 hours from start to finish (airport to airport.)

Buyers relocating to Beaverton move for a variety of reasons. But the main reasons are: job relocation, retirement, housing prices.

Things to consider when relocating to Beaverton for retirement:

  • Your lifestyle is very important at this juncture. Do you want to golf, attend the wonderful theater district we have downtown? Being close to family / friends might be another reason you're relocating to Beaverton.
  • Will you be paying cash? If not, it's essential you talk with a lender about your move beforehand. Fixed incomes are handled differently, and a good lender will assist you with this element of your move.
  • Do you want to stop driving? A lot of former clients just didn't want to use their car that much, and it's understandable.
  • Do you want to live in a 55-older community? We have them.

Things to consider when relocating to Beaverton for housing prices:

  • The Metro Portland market has always been more affordable them similar areas on the West Coast. Many people (job relocation or retirement) have opted at relocating to Beaverton just for this reason alone.
  • The inventory of suitable housing is good now, and since I began my real estate practice, inventory has been level. The demand doesn't undermine supply. Sometimes, this does help in keeping pricing down.
  • Prices are always determined with what a buyer is willing to spend. Relocating to Beaverton is no different. Finding a good Exclusive Buyers Agent to show you the best bang for your buck makes sense.

Things to consider when relocating to Beaverton for employment/job relocation:

  • Make sure you have your job lined up. Proof of employment will be required by your lender
  • Make sure you acclimate yourself to the daily-life nuances: shopping, schools, transport (traffic, bus and/or MAX routes, walk ability in neighbors, etc.). A good Exclusive Buyers Agent can help get you familiar with the lay-of-the-land.
  • Make sure you align your move with your interests; dining, restaurants, funky/eclectic neighbors, etc.

There's certainly a lot to think about when making ANY home purchase . . . and when contemplating a big move, such as relocating to Beaverton, you want to talk with someone who will assist and help make your move a pleasurable one. I relocated to Beaverton in 1990 . . . I can help!!
