PortTHE PORT OF BROOKINGS - HARBOR is the busiest recreational port on the Oregon Coast.

I believe that it is one of the most beautiful ports. I probably feel this way because I live here and it offers me a place to moor our sailboat as well as a place to walk and enjoy the beach!

The Port of Brookings - Harbor has suffered financial woes in the past and also the present. But I think that the Port commissioners, management and staff will find ways to fix the problems because the port is too important for our community.

Listed below are some interesting facts about our Port:

The Port of Brookings Harbor District covers over 400 square-miles.

The Port of Brookings Harbor represents over 75 percent of the population base for Curry County.

The Port has more than 5,000 commercial fishing vessels visiting annually.

The Port moves more than 20 million pounds of bait, fuel, ice and fish products across its docks annually.

Because of its location and geographical configuration, the Port of Brookings Harbor is listed as a "Harbor of Refuge" by the U.S. Coast Guard. The Chetco River, on which the Port is located, is the safest bar on the Oregon Coast with more than 280 passable days per year.

Port

The Port Of Brookings Harbor is one of the most active Ports on the Oregon Coast, with a 9300 square foot retail center, a bustling recreational and commercial fishing marina basin, and an additional 13,000 square feet of commercial space in planning.

All of these statisics I gleaned from the Port's website. If you would like more information on the port check out this link!
