Mill Street Park in Canby, Oregon (Clackamas County)

Mill Street Park in Canby, Oregon is a great family park located in the heart of Canby. This park is a rather large park with lots of things to do for the whole family. My son really liked the tractor arm toy, where he could dig and move dirt.

Bunny Agililty at Clackamas County Fair

Oh my gosh, I can't believe how much fun I have had at the fair yesterday. I went to the fair and saw the 4H kids with their bunnies doing the agility track. I don't know how this got started but it was great. There were things to jump over and and tunnels to go through and most of the bunnies did pretty good.

My haul from the Canby Spring Garden Fair...twas a good day!

booths at the Canby Spring Garden Fair

What a great day to be out strolling along the over 200 booths at the annual Master Gardener Spring Garden Fair in Canby. With the temperature reaching 71 degrees and the sun shining away, I could literally feel my pupils widening, my body taking in that blessed warmth as I meadered through rows of annuals, perrenials, veggies, conifers and trees.

Interspersed in between all these were garden art, furniture, bird feeders, as well as some antique yard items.

Breathing in all the scents of the flowers, the soil, just put me in a great frame of mind. After going through and picking out my choices and paying, I went to the cart area where many kids hoping to earn some tips for various things where a young woman named Kelly followed me with the cart to pick up my haul for the day. After hauling the cart full of plants to the farthestmy haul from the Canby Garden Fair...twas a good day! parking lot, I gladly wrote her a check (only had $3 cash) for $10 to help her with her savings to go to Italy.

So, my haul from the Canby Spring Garden Fair ended up being a cool Cryptomeria Japonica ($20) that changes to a nice plum color in the winter and some ribbon grass $3 each from Anderson Family Farms in Canby. I saw a beautful Garden Plaque that I bought for $8 at the Baker Prairie Middle School Garden booth with the money going towards the school's garden..this was very heavy!

I couldn't resist the Stellers Jay bird fence cap from Madrugada Pottery..I mean doesn't Portlandia say all we need to do is "put a bird on it" and it becomes art?

When I sold my last house a couple years ago I had lots of my pots with plants on the deck to "stage" it. The folks that bought the house ended up loving all of them so put it in the offer. I did hate parting with my Olive Tree that I had just bought at this fair at the time, but in the scheme of things a small item.

Today I bought a new one from One Green World..the same people I got the lasCeramic Pottery Bird fence post capt one from. I did have to pay a little more this time around, but $19 from $12 in '08 is not tooooo bad right?

Of course the last day..and the last hours of any fair like this finds you wandering into booths that now have some heavily discounted stuff..so when I wandered into Guerrero Nurserys' booth with its Japanese maples, dogwoods and more at 50% off..well..at this point I wish I had a bigger vehicle! I did walk away with (ok, Kelly carted it for me) a nice over 6' coral bark Japanese maple for $22.

Now that was my deal of the day! These are not only pretty during the summer, but the winter they have those cool red/coral barks.

Ok, so the story can be told in the numbers

This is just for Canby Oregon

Canby Homes on the market - 133, Pending 16, Sold in the past month 13

Canby Short Sales on the market 32, Pending 0, Sold in the past month 2

Canby Bank owned properties on the market 10, Pending 5, Sold in the past month 6

So 25% of our market is Short Sales, and less than 10% is bank owned, but 50% of sales are with the bank owned.

I guess the good news here is that homes are selling.
