A Beautiful Day to be at Detroit Lake, Oregon
One of the biggest recreational draws in our area is Detroit Lake. There are several areas to launch boats, picnic and enjoy the surroundings. Mongold State Park is just one of the four prime visitor areas on the lake.
I visited Mongold yesterday with my daughter and her friend. We took a small lunch, our chairs, a blanket and books and decided to get some sun! It was a beautiful day. The water is still chilly but clear.

Mongold Day Use Swimming area, Piety Island in the background
Mongold has a great spot to launch boats and plenty of parking for trailers. There is a separate parking lot for the day use folks. There are several shaded picnic areas with tables. The restrooms are clean and there are showers for use after using the swimming area. The view to Piety Island is nice and a short walking trail leads to more picnic tables. This is a pay per use park and it will cost you $3.00 at the entrance.

Ahhh, the sunshine and a good book!

What's for lunch?
If you are in looking for a nice place to play in the water, swim, kayak, canoe, boat or just relax, spend a couple of hours at Mongold State Park.
If you are interested in property in the Santiam Canyon, give me a call today! I love Oregon, let me show you why!
