Wickiup Station is Open and Attracting a Few Unexpected Locals

Central Oregon Real Estate | Broker Thesa Chambers, Licensed in Oregon: Real Estate Agent in La Pine, OR

La Pine has a new pub in town. The locals have been talking about it a lot. Wickiup Station opened a week or two ago. Located right on Hwy 97, and next to the very busy Les Schawb Tires it is very easy to find.

Smoke free and ready to serve the locals and visitors alike, I have not had the opportunity to try this spot just yet. But today when I was picking up clients from having a tire repaired I did spot these locals. Seems they are more interested in the landscaping than what might be offered inside.

There were 3 bucks and a doe that made a quick lunch out of the brand new landscaping.

We also have the Land of Lakes...right here in Central Oregon

There are so many fun things to do in Central Oregon it makes it an excellent place to live. Besides the ATV, Dirt Biking, Horse Back Riding, Skiing(snow and water), Canoeing, Boating, Whitewater, Cycling & Cyclocrossing, Hiking,
Climbing, Hunting, Float Tubing, Natural Museums, Lava Caves, Rentals(Bicycles, Most Floatation devices, Boats, Paddle Boats, Canoes, Party Barges), Roller Blades, & I saved the best for last....FISHINGFishing at Crane PrairieHere is one of the Bass Brent Fisher & his wife Theresa catch every year out of Crane Prairie. It is also a great place to catch a record Rainbow trout. I will show you more pictures of fish from the Lakes here, but first lets go over all the lakes in the area. We will start with Walton Lake and work our way back. All these lakes have great fishing but don't forget to read your synopsis because the rules for fishing change evey year. Ok just a rundown of lakes...Walton, Odell, Crescent, Davis, Sparks, North Twin, South Twin, Wickiup, Crane Prairie, East Lake, & Paulina. All within an hours drive from La Pine. Now that's alot of choices...There are alot more but they are outside my hour radius. Let's not forget all the river and stream fishing..... Brent & Theresa's run-down on whats, what and what to catch where....Crane Prairie is known for Large Mouth Bass & Rainbow Trout. Davis is Fly Fishing ONLY, known for great pan sized Rainbow Trout. Sparks is Fly Fishing Only and a great recreation lake people love to sail boat and wind surf here. Walton is known for great fishing and a great place to take your family you can fish in a boat or off the bank and still catch fish mostly Rainbow Trout & Kokanee. Odell & Crescent Lakes are very cold they are fed every year by snow run off. The fishing here is great but the best luck comes from trolling here. Some use down riggers to get the big 'ole Mackinaw they have hanging out towards the bottom of the deep lakes. There are also an abundance of Rainbow Trout & Kokanee. At East Lake & Paulina they have caught record breaking Brown Trout & Rainbow Trout..if you are trolling there are also alot of Kokanee to be had. North and South Twin are ideal to take kids of any age. You can catch big Rainbow Trout right off the bank. The best part of these two lakes is the fun family friendly atmosphere they have there, also a great place to take the kids swimming on those hot summer days. Wickiup...again I save the best for last, Wickiup is a big lake with lots of arms. This gives you several places to choose from to find where the fish are biting. Wickiup is known for Large Mouth Bass, German Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, & Kokanee. In this lake you can catch your limit in Kokanee, catch Large Mouth Bass up to 14 lbs, catch Brown Trout big enough to get your picture with it up at the lodges along with Rainbow Trout as big as those Brown Trout. Having your picture taken with your big catch and hung in the lodges for everyone to gasp at and admire is like a badge of honor among fisherman and fisherwomen. Here is a great example of a big Wickiup Brown Trout Theresa caught in the fall of 2007. This was a 14 lb. Brown Trout Theresa named Edgar. Just so everyone knows Edgar is still out there...Theresa put him on a metal stringer attached to the boat and by the time they got to shore and pulled up the stringer it was a bent mess and Edgar had broke the METAL STRINGER and got away. She was pleased to get the picture so the story about the one that got away was not just a story but had some proof to back it up...lol We have all heard stories about the one that got away....now it's your turn to go enjoy the fun in the sun and catch a prize winning Edgar.

A Fashion Statement about Real Estate

Fred Jaeger's ~ Central Oregon Real Estate Connection: Real Estate Agent in La Pine, OR

Last year I wrote an article suggesting that if you want to know something about your Realtor you should check out his or her ride. It occurs to me, however, that instead of using a Realtor's car as an indicator of what kind of agent you'll be getting (or already have) a more interesting point of reference might simply be what they're wearing.

That's right, I'm going to be talking about clothes...what Realtors wear, when and why.

First of all, I have to admit that I am not particularly known for any real keen sense of fashion (ok, and everyone who actually knows me can stop laughing), and although the whole concept of "dressing for success" is something that is not beyond my intellectual capacity, actually executing the idea on a consistent basis has been, lets say, somewhat of a challenge. So there, I've said it; I'm not Tim Gunn.

But that doesn't mean I'm not a good Realtor, I hope. (Gulp.)

Anyway, despite my own fashion weaknesses, I do occasionally notice some differences in what seems to be appropriate attire given different circumstances. For instance, if I were a Portland or even a Bend agent, shirt and tie, or even a full-blown suit worn on at least a some-what-regular basis, would be the norm. It is my contention, however, that in the La Pine and Klamath County markets, anyone showing up in a suit and tie, especially a Real Estate guy, would be looked on with great suspicion as some kind of yuppie city-slicker who's too arrogant and full of himself to be given even the time of day. Obviously, that kind of perception wouldn't be too good for business.

However, it's funny that although we Realtors who work primarily in the area enjoy the privilege and expectation of dressing "smartly casual," if you will, I'm often quite amused about how the actual practice of this kind of dress manifests itself, even within the less-than-thirty miles that separate Bend from the county line.

Say what? I'm saying that when it comes to casual attire, there seems to be some kind of difference between even Sunriver and La Pine. I haven't quite put my finger on it, but there is a difference. It's sort of a JCrew/ LL Bean / (dare I say - Birkenstock) kind of thing, versus something that's not. I'm not arguing that either choice is better, but the distinctions between the two are, at least occasionally, somewhat amusing.

My friend the investment advisor has, on more than one occasion, expressed a belief that for him, in his business, maintaining a certain business-like image is an essential component of his success. The fact that this subject has come up on more than one occasion might suggest that my buddy is actually making a tactful recommendation, rather than a declaration with regard to his own situation. It is still my belief, however, that despite the fact that each of us is regularly tasked with making equally critical recommendations regarding our respective clients' financial conditions, the so-called image of a Realtor seems distinctly different from that of any other advisor.

Buying a home is personal, and it is the very personal nature of the Realtor-Client relationship that is most effectively facilitated by a more relaxed atmosphere than perhaps that of other business relationships. For me, as a Realtor in my market, I'm pleased to operate within an environment that seems to place a higher level of importance on actual deeds, practice and reputation, rather than a place where image is factored more seriously into the equation.
