From Purple to Pleasing - Painting is worth the Investment

David Peterson ~ Home Stager Portland OR ~ Synergy Staging ~ Portland Oregon: Home Stager in Portland, OR

Last week Synergy Staging had the opportunity to stage this beautiful home in Lake Oswego. When we visited the property to do our walk through it was clear that some of the colors had to be toned down. Fortunately the owner understood that the colors would not appeal to everyone and was prepared to paint the interior of the home.

How one prefers to live in a home is almost always different from how one should sell their home. We personally love bold and vibrant colors, but when selling your home, keeping a nice warm neutral is going to be appealing to the broadest range of potential buyers.

In the before picture you can see the living room had a mix of white and mint green. Although the ceilings were very high, the room was small and broken up with a lot of different angles. Painting one neutral color throughout the space made it feel larger and buyers were less distracted by the architecture.

And check out this purple dining room that needed a facelift. By using the same neutral that was used in the living room, the entire space flowed together. After staging, the dining room became a key selling feature in the home with it's inviting feel and beautiful views.

When selling your home, the investments you make in preparing your property will pay off. Home staging, painting, minor cosmetic fixes, cleaning, etc. will typically result in a quicker sale for more money. Listen to the professionals who are trying to help you! =)

We'll be posting more pictures of this gorgeous home shortly.

Lake Oswego and The Lord of the Rings

Carla Muss-Jacobs, ABR, CEBA, e-PRO, Realtor: Real Estate Agent in Beaverton, OR

Once upon a time . . . there was a home builder in Lake Oswego, OR 97034 who, apparently, had read "The Lord of the Rings" at some point in their life.

It must have been very awe inspiring. Because then that builder grew up, they actually named streets in the vast subdivision with all too familiar names (for those Hobbit fans).

Now, this area was built circa 1970's and 1980's prior to the movies coming out. But the names of the streets do reflect the builders passion.

There is: Hobbit Ct, Tolkein Ln, Hillshire Dr, Anduin Terr, Rivendell Ct, Rivendell Rd . . . to name a few.

When I was up in the area showing property several years ago . . . coincidentally, it was right when TLOTR hit the movie theatres. Of course, the names stood out. We actually toured a lovely, elegant home on SW Rivendell Ct.

And these properties are not little Hobitts! To the contrary, they are very high-end, expansive homes that would make Bilbo Baggins NEVER want to move.

Can you imagine a Hobbit living in a 4500 sq. ft. 5 bedroom, 4 bath home on >.50 acres? WHO cares about "my precious" . . . with a sauna, alcove, two master suites, tennis courts, etc.

People do a lot of things in homage of someone they admire or aspire to be. Whoever the builder was (and I'm sure I can find out -- just too lazy really) they did a great tribute to J. R. R. Tolkien's labor of love.

And now you know that Lake Oswego, OR 97034 has a "The Lord of the Rings" connection.

Lake Oswego Bakery -- St. Honoré

Carla Muss-Jacobs, ABR, CEBA, e-PRO, Realtor: Real Estate Agent in Beaverton, OR

Whenever I have the time-- or good excuse -- I like to cruise into Lake Oswego.

My "excuse" today was:"Darn, I'm out of bread." Combining that with my desire to blog about one of my favorite bakeries, St. Honoré I headed out.

DO YOU BLAME ME? Delicious . . .

But I kept I shunned the goodies, and got my loaf of bread.

A lovely selectionof Baguettes, Ficelle (seeded or plain), Couronne, Parisian, Petits Pains Auvergnat, and Fendu. Their "specialty" breads, and what I go for is the "Miche" bread, a hearty "shepard's" style break with whole grains, natural level start, which turns our a dense, rich and full of terroir flavor! They even let this bread "age" for a day to get the flavors rounded through each loaf. But there are other breads: Raisin & Fennel Benoitons, Cranberry Hazelnut.

Back to the pastries . . . I swear . . . I didn't partake. But I did get one of the Casse Croute (traditional French baguette sandwich). Again, sticking to my tried-and-true I purchased the Brie aux Fines Herbs -- a baguette with chives, parsley butter, double-creme Brie, frisée green leaves, cucumbers and toasted almond slices.

The Soups Du Jour: Tomato/Basil/Coconut and Curry/Eggplant/Lentil. And I typically get a small cup with my Casse Croute, but at temps over 90F, I passed.

If you want to take a nice trip into Lake Oswego, or if you already live there, or are contemplating, take yourself into the HEART of downtown and visit a Boulangerie by the Lake!
