In 2008, I took this picture of the Oregon City Falls and it shows what the falls normally look like, but yesterday that is not what the falls looked like. The fact is they looked more like a ripple in a fast moving river because the Willamette River was at flood stages and was moving real fast!

Now, below is the picture from yesterday and as you can see, there is a major difference between the picture from 2008 and the one I just took. With all the snow runoff we are getting along with the inches upon inches of rain, it has equaled a lot of flooding in the area.
So, if you see water going across the street, please don’t try to drive through it, we have already lost a couple lives and I don’t want to see any more.

I loved Abernathy Creek City Park as it wasn’t your typical park. Now, the kids weren’t too impressed as there weren’t any slides, swings or anything to play on. But, for me, this is the kind of park I would take my wife to for a date without the kids.

This park had a great open area and the table wasn’t your typical picnic table. It seemed like a table you would find in a nice restaurant. If I were to bring my wife here with a nice dinner, a bottle of sparkling cider and two candles it would make a perfect date night.

So, if you are looking for a romantic place to take someone on a date that is out of the ordinary, then I would take your special someone here. You want to impress, this is the park to take them to as it will be the date of all dates and one they will tell their friends about. Abernathy Creek City Park is located in downtown Oregon City.

Oh boy, I can't believe I missed last week..and getting this week out late!! Congrats to Kat Palmiotti for correctly guessing my last Where is it Wednesday titled Orenco Station, answer to Where is it Wednesday...somewhere in Hillsboro,OR 11/2/11. Each week I'll be posting a new picture on Wednesday morning(ish). The title of the blog will have the City where the picture is taken and I'll post the answer Wednesday evening...not only here on my blog, but on facebook business page (please click like and add yourself there) as well as tweetin it on my Twitter page. Remember, you're free to google or use whatever there is on hand.
Do you know where it is? Care to guess? Comments are welcome! I'll post the answer tonight.
Hint, very close to where we moored our boat.

Clackamette Park, answer to Where is it Wednesday...somewhere in Oregon City 11/16/11
Here I live just two exits away and never knew this park was here until we hubby bought a boat this past summer and we put it in the water to bring it over to moor it right in this very spot. Today, the weather was really gloomy, around 48 degrees, with the rain coming down harder than normal and that chill in the air that kinda goes through you probably (at least me anyway). Needless to say, Clackamette Park was pretty deserted. The complete opposite of when we put the boat in the water when there were lots of other boats, sun bathers, ducks and just lots of action all around.
Located at 1955 Clackamette Dr. in Oregon City, this park has a skate park, RV parking on the river, a boat docking area and a place for horseshoes as well as walking trail, swings and play areas and covered picnic tables.
Here are some of the pictures I took this morning

Now, most people when they see a rock they would walk right over it or if it was in their yard, they would try to figure out how to have it removed. But, this rock is different, this rock isn’t no ordinary rock! This rock was a survey marker from this property.

Now, they didn’t have fancy satellites and other ways to do surveys in the 1800s, so they used natural landmarks and this was that landmark for the Baker cabin. The historical society kept everything as it was and didn’t change a thing, including the survey marker, which I think is really cool!
