Goose Hollow Zip Code 97201 is located in SW Portland. Goose Hollow neighborhood is bordered by the Arlington Heights, Nob Hill, The Pearl District, and Downtown neighborhoods. Goose Hollow was named after the migrating geese who used to stop there to gather. It acquired its distinctive name through early residents’ practice of letting their geese run free throughout the wooded hollow in the Tualatin Mountains. Goose Hollow has one of the highest rated schools in the Portland School district. Lincoln HighSchool brings families all across the US moving into Portland.

I personally love driving through Goose Hollow in Southwest Portland just to enjoy the beautiful architecture of all of these homes and Condo's. As a Portland Realtor, I have the honor of entering into many of these gorgeous floor plans and paradise backyards. Goose Hollow Condos and town homes can be Penthouses with ultimate privacy, masterfully designed with great views and contemporary styles. The MAX Light Rail system travels through the neighborhood, stopping at the PGE Park, Kings Hill/SW Salmon and Goose Hollow/SW Jefferson St stations. Whether you commute to downtown or west to Beaverton or Hillsboro, it's a easy walk down the to a MAX stop from most parts of the neighborhood. Goose Hollow is also served by two major freeways: Interstate 405 (which divides it from Downtown Portland) and U.S. Route 26.

PGE Park is a multi-purpose sports facility located on the north edge of Goose Hollow. I think everyone is still waiting for Major League Baseball to come to Portland, but PGE is a bit too small to house such a large crowd. PGE Park is home to the Triple-A Baseball Portland Beavers and professional soccer’s Portland Timbers. The Timbers are a member of the United Soccer League and in 2011 they will join the major ranks when they play in the MLS. (not the Multiple Listing Service :) Thinking of the perfect city to relax in...The October 2007 issue of Money Magazine named the Goose Hollow neighborhood as one of the best places to retire. The article states that, "Goose Hollow is walking distance to Washington Park, which is home to the Japanese Garden, the International Test Rose Garden and the Hoyt Arboretum. Goose Hollow's Walk Score is in the 90's out of 100, meaning this is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Portland. It's funny to think about what Portland used to be like a long time ago! Goose Hollow got it's name because in the early times of Portland , wild geese used run free throughout the wooded hollow in the Tualatin Mountains . In fact, there was something called the Goose Hollow Wars- people fighting over the geese! Now it has become one of the most densely populated areas in Portland . The neighborhood league is working hard to make it a people friendly area to live in- and has done a great job bringing it back from it's residential downturn during the 2 nd half of the 1900's. There are 6 new condo projects in the area- Neighborhood: The Allegro, the Civic Concos, The Clay Street Commons, the Jefferson, the Manhattan Tower and the Shannon
There are several different residential areas of Goose Hollow. The Uptown or Lownsdale District used to be all residential- then went through a time when it became warehouses, commercial and light industrial. It is now being reborn- has older brick apartment buildings, hotels, commercial mixed and new condo units coming in. Kings Hill is where some of the wealthiest merchants at the turn of the century lived.- full of gorgeous turn of the century architecture-and is now a designated Historic District. Goose Hollow used to have a huge pond- that's why the geese lived there- and there were many family farms situated nearby- and now is mixed commercial, industrial, residential and freeways. Gander Ridge and Vista Ridge are right at the top or west edge of Goose Hollow bowl- and are full of beautiful homes built up in the hills overlooking Portland .

The Max runs right through it- both the Red line and the Blue line- and I-405 and 26 run right through it too. They have done a lot of art décor along the Max line- kind of interesting to see

There is no park right in Goose Hollow, but Washington Park is located right on the west edge- you can hop on the Max and be there in just a couple of minutes. There is a zoo, an arboretum, trails, a Children's Museum, a Rose Garden and all kinds of cool stuff!
