East Coast Artist to Compete in Florence Biennale 2011
Former Staten Island Resident to Exhibit Artwork in Italy


ANDREAS, PA, MARCH 4, 2011: East Coast visual Artist Hilary J. England has been invited to compete in the prestigious art exhibition, Florence Biennale 2011, December 3-11th, 2011, in Florence , Italy .
The Florence Biennale is the largest democratic artist supported Biennale in the world with over 700 artists from 78 countries. It hangs 2500 artworks for a period of 7 days in the center of Florence . It is part of the United Nations initiative "Dialogue between Nations" and is expressly for the gathering of artists to unite in peace and share ideas and dialogue with each other. The Florence Biennale is about providing a venue for artists, critics, curators and collectors to learn what is happening worldwide in the arts and to gain an understanding of each other, other cultures, and build networks in a democratic way.
Past Award winners at the Florence Biennale have included David Hockney, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Gilbert and George, Shu Yong, and Marina Abramovic.
Hilary J. England is an award-winning visual Artist who was born in Brooklyn , New York , grew up in Staten Island, New York, and is currently based in Andreas, Pennsylvania . She is a painter who creates contemporary social realist artwork, and has exhibited her works internationally.
"I am honored to represent the United States in such a prestigious exhibit, and look forward to meeting the challenge of preparing for this," says Hilary J. England. "This is a wonderful way to bring our concerns and common interests together and have a global, peaceful awareness of our similarities as well as differences."
The Florence Biennale is held every two years in the Historical Fortezza da Basso in Florence , Italy . The Biennale is run by Arte Studio, whose first contemporary art exhibition occurred in 1986. Subsequent exhibits grew, and they eventually formed the first Biennale in 1997. Brothers Pasquale and Piero Celona, of Arte Studio, serve as President and General Manager of the Biennale.
Every Biennale is judged by 12 member international awards jury. This year's jury will include Rosa Tejada, Associate Museum Educator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City , Gregorio Luke, Art Critic, Curator and Expert on Latin American Art, who is based out of Long Beach , California , and 10 other international scholars and luminaries of the Arts.
The Artists that are chosen to attend the Florence Biennale based on a selection process that starts over one year prior to the Biennale. Artists are invited based on artwork that communicates talent and cultural value. Artistic selection is done without prejudice to artistic style or school, so that an array of artistic styles and worldviews are presented.
Artists that are chosen for this event must assume all costs for the trip privately, including shipping and insurances.
"This is an expensive venture to undertake, but I am up to the task!" says Hilary J. England. "I wouldn't miss the opportunity to be there on behalf of the U.S.A. I have set up a fundraising website to accept donations from any other lovers of the Arts who would like to be involved and help defray some of these related costs.

Hilary J. England is an award-winning Artist who is currently based in Schuylkill County , Pennsylvania . She has been working as a professional artist since the early 1990s creating landscapes, still life, and portraiture in oils, pastels, water mediums, and charcoal, and mixed media including tempera, encaustic and sculpture.
She has studied for a decade at the Art Student's League of NYC, and is a member of the American Impressionist Society, the National Association of Women Artists, Oil Painters of America, and various local artist groups.

Hawk mountain is a wonderful place to take the whole family and have the opportunity to see some type of Rapter... Eagle...Hawk...Vulture along with awesome views and trails. My Favorite place to go and just regroup my senses and view God's creation.
