Corporate America Arrives At Seven Springs

Sorry, it's NOT an April Fools Joke. It's time to face the fact. The old work environment of days past, where families, not just individuals, worked their entire lives at the resort, those days are gone. Where you could walk down any hall way, sit in any bar stool or dining room chair, and greet employees by their first name and they knew you, your family, and what you liked.

Progress on major financial investments continues. The foundation for the Lodge at the Sporting Clays center has been poured. The Spa is soon to open. Yet March saw major employee cutbacks (many were long term employees) and a change in philosophy of the day to day operations at Seven Springs. Several shops and eateries are now open four days instead of seven. Hours have been cut back. Many of the familiar faces are gone along with their positions.

When asked, "How many people do you have working for you?" Herman Dupre (one of the past owners) was once jokingly quoted as saying, "We have between 800 to 1,200 employees depending upon the season. How many are working today is tough to say!" It used to be that Seven Springs boasted that they were the largest employer in Somerset County. Given this economy they may still be...

We realize that this is happening to people in every state. Some how we thought the mountain would be a safe haven. It is indeed a new environment, let us know what you think of it.

Here's a salute to all of those folks who are moving on that we will dearly miss. Thank you for your years of service. It is because of you that Seven Springs is at this point! We wish you well in these challenging times. You where what made the Seven Spring experience.
