It's always nice to check e-mail when there is a subject heading stating, YOUR FAN CLUB. Those are the e-mails you open first and what a pleasant suprise to read from the director of the Penn State Small Business Development Center. The rest of the e-mail read as follows:

Linda:
I LOVED this class!!.... I'll bet you are having a great time with them.

Thanks for asking me to visit, I enjoyed every minute.
You're the best!

See you soon.. Linda

BTW - Colleen Small was raving about "Business Bites" at our CBICC Ambassador meeting this am. She said it was great! .......It got by me, sorry I couldn't be there.

It seem's that the Coaches Corner radio guys were well received during their Breakfast business bites appearance. The Coaches include Tim Rogers of Keller Williams Realty, Ken Pasch of Ki-Visions, and Paul Nichols of EDI.

If you missed the Coaches Corner trio during their pre-April Fools Day presentation you need to track down one of the Coaches to see what you missed. The Coaches discussed issues impacting business in the current economy and action steps to move your business forward in 2009.

The Coaches are planning an encore performance for the Penn State Small Business Development Center in the near future so stay tuned for more information.

REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT VS. THE STOCK MARKET 2002 TO DATE

Last week the stock market hit a low not seen since 2002. Yesterday the market hit a 12 year low. How has housing fared in the same time frame in the State College, PA. market?

Homes prices have been on a steady rise in the market for years but never had the run-up in prices that we have seen nationally nor the contraction as seen nationally.

The stock market rose from 7,591 in 2002 to 14,000 last year and in the span of several months has contracted below 2002 levels. If you invested in the market in 2002 and didn't pull your money out, a $20,000 investment in the market in 2002 is worth $20,000 today (not accounting for dividends and stock splits).

Suppose you invested in residential property in 2002 using a $20,000 downpayment and buying the average price home in the Centre County market. The return on your investment is as follows:

Avg price of home 2002 - $140,700

Avg price of home 2009 - $207,731

Gain over 7 years - $67,031

47% gain over 7 years

Avg annual return $9,575

The $20,000 initial investment returned 335% over 7 years.

If you are still not buying real estate I suggest you give me a call and talk about the opportunities.
