CHRISTMAS PARADE & SANTA MEET –N- GREET

The parade will begin through town featuring Santa Claus and a host of your favorite cartoon friends. The parade will feature only trucks and a Christmas trolley. No walking groups will be involved. The parade will circle around most streets in town starting at 2:00pm.

Immediately following the parade, festivities will begin at the Frackville Borough’s Community Center on Center and Oak Streets. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to greet all children with gifts. Live holiday music and free light refreshments will be available.

Frackville Town Wide Yard Sale
80-90 households hosting individual yard sales. Location map provided on the day of the sale.

Clear out your junk and treasurers for our annual Spring Townwide Yard Sale to be held on Saturday, September 10 throughout the Borough of Frackville. The cost per household address is $7. Times are at the discretion of the homeowners.

Registration deadline is Sept 7 by 9:30 pm.
Participants MUST pick up their packets on Friday, September 9 2011 at Musicraft. No Deliveries!!!

No Phone registrations accepted!
A donation tuck from the Salvation Army will be parked at the borough building to collect unsold items that are in good condition. NO JUNK WILL BE ACCEPTED and the driver has the right to refuse items not fit for donation. The truck will be parked in the lot on S. Center St from 1-4pm or until full.

Maps of the yard sales will be made available to the public Sept 9th. Maps will be distributed to Rite-Aid, Musicraft, Frackville Library, Compact Sweeper, and Boyer’s Food Market. Maps will also be uploaded to the Board’s website prior to the sale.

To register, complete the September 2011 Yard Sale Registration and include brief highlight of what people will find at your sale. Keep descriptions brief as they must fit on the maps created. Registration fees and forms can picked up and dropped off at the Frackville Library, Musicraft, or Compact Sweeper (all located on Lehigh Avenue).

Frackville Veteran of the Month

The Borough of Frackville hosts a Veteran of the Month program in honor of distinguished community Veterans. The program will involve flying the American Flag located at the Frackville Borough Building in honor of a different Veteran for each month of the year. The submission essay and veteran’s photograph will also be permanently displayed in the hallway of the Frackville Borough Building.

Program Rules:
To be eligible to be the Frackville Veteran of the Month, submit a 500 word essay that details the Veteran’s Frackville connection, military history and any other accomplishments. A 5 x 7 photo (preferably military photo) must be submitted. Submissions can be made on behalf of living or deceased veterans.

Veteran MUST meet at least one of the following criteria:
• Have a Frackville connection
• Be married to a present or former Frackville resident
• Been born, raised or retired to Frackville
• Have attended a Frackville school
• Have worked, or owned a business in town

Everyday we lose more and more of our beloved veterans and soon the greatest generation will only be a memory in the textbook. Every one of our military personnel dedicates their lives for the well-being and safety of our country. We, as Frackville citizens, can and will honor and remember our Veterans and their courageous sacrifices.

at the Elk’s Lodge in Frackville. Tickets are only $15 and include admission to the evening’s festivities, food, entertainment, a keepsake pint glass, and inclusion in the large raffle. Doors will open at 7:00pm with entertainment from 8pm-12am. Proceeds benefit the annual Christmas parade and Meet & Greet with Santa and his friends. The tickets can be purchased by calling a Recreation Board member at 570-874-4577, Paul 874-0138, Judy 874-1097 Arlene 874-3579, Elaine 874-2302, Ron 874-0195, Brian 985-4344, or at the following businesses: New York Bakery, Ernie’s Photography, Compact Sweeper, and Frackville Library.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the event.

The event is sponsored each year by the Frackville Recreation Board as a way to raise funds for the annual Christmas parade and Meet & Greet with Santa and his friends. Funds are also put towards the annual Memorial Day Parade ad other community events. Previous Christmas in July celebrations have been very successful in supporting the various free events for the community.

This year, entertainment will be provided by DJ Eddie Collins. The evening is an over-21 event. Ticket price does not include alcohol/non-alcohol beverages which will be available for purchase through the Elk’s cash bar. There is no BYOB for the evening’s event.

The event will also feature more than 50 great raffle prizes. Purchase of a ticket will include entry into the raffle for all prizes including a Yuengling Adirondack Chair & Yuengling Snowboard. Local businesses in Frackville and beyond have been donating merchandise, gift certificates, and monetary donations to support this event.
