The Suits Are Watching

Having people look over your shoulder as you work can sometimes be a little unsettling.

We, at TNT, were tasked with removing a 30’ high cyclone fence back stop on a baseball field, along w/ player benches, 180’ of fence & a large scoreboard, 10’ x 16’ that stood 20’ in the air. Our plan regarding the back stop was to cut all the interior upright poles, leaving the last 2 outer poles. We tied a rope to the back of the back stop & attached it to the back of one of the trucks, located just passed 2nd base. Just as I thought this would be a smooth operation, along come the school execs to observe.

The 2 workers then started cutting the outer poles. The plan was to cut ¾’s of the way around the pole & let gravity & the truck do the rest.

As they were cutting, the truck driver’s foot slipped off the brake & the back stop started coming down. I grabbed one guy and pushed him out of the way, while screaming to the other guy (who happened to be my son). The driver noticed his mistake & backed up to relieve the tension.

After regaining my breath and regular heart rate, they resumed cutting. (keep in mind, the suits with the folded arms and stern looks).

Not one minute later, with the relief cuts completed, the driver was waved on. The 30’ h x 50’ w back stop fell in slow motion, with nary a dust particle made airborne with its landing.

WHEW!!!!!

The suits looked at each other, nodded in approval, waved to me, got back in their cars & left.

A smirk could not help but spread across my face along with a gaze upward and a nod of thanks.

The Couch in the Kitchen

Some people are good at math. Others are good with tools. Me, I am good at shapes.

I went to visit my friend and his wife one Saturday afternoon. I knocked on his kitchen door
and as good friends are allowed to do, I walked right in. Right into a couch! A couch was in the middle
of their kitchen, almost blocking access to their fridge!

"Alright Mason, whats with the upholstered furniture in your kitchen?", I replied.

Mason answered, "My brother-in-law & I tried for 45 minutes to move it. Then my cousin came
over and we tried for a half hour to move it to the basement. It just isn't going down there."
He explained that that was two weeks ago. "I am going to ask a family member if they want it
or just put an ad in the paper since it won't fit down the steps."

I asked for a tape measure, measured it once, then twice & said, "All right, grab that end this way."
The next time he looked, he was seeing his wife sitting on the couch in the basement.

I am glad that I played with blocks when I was little!lol

It was nice to help a friend in need and also accomplish something that others could not.

If you have any questions about moving items, feel free to contact me!

Glenolden PA R2 SEPTA Regional Rail Station

David Henke Realtor (r) Homes Just West of Philadelphia PA: Real Estate Agent in Newtown Square, PA

SEPTA R2 Glenolden PA StationWelcome to Glenolden in Delaware County Pennsylvania. Today we have the opportunity to visit the Glendolden PA SEPTA Station on the SEPTA R2 Regional Rail Line with service from Center City Philadelphia through to Wilmington and Newark Delaware. The video also includes a close up of the Amtrak Acela passing the station.

This is one of the smaller stations on the line. It does have a small waiting room and office on the south side of the tracks. The station itself is located at the overpass for Glenolden Avenue just one block south of Chester Pike.

This SEPTA station does have some limited parking on both sides of the track, but it is designed primarily as a local walk up or drop off station. Although within blocks of the Borough Hall and commercial areas, the area is primarily residential with a wide variety of single family homes as well as several apartment and condominium complexes within easy walking distance.

Real estate prices in the area have been on a bit of a ride. In 2002, the sales prices averaged well below $100,000 and then quickly rose to top out with an average sales price of $168,000 with 81 sales in 2006. Since then, prices fell to an average of $164,000 in 2007 with 78 sales, $139,000 in 2008 with 49 sales, and only $111,000 with 17 sales in the last six months. This price should rise again shortly because there are an additional 11 properties currently under contract but not settled with an average list price of $165,000. There are also an additional 37 homes still on the market in Glenolden with an average asking price of $161,000. These available homes range from a low of $55,000 for a 1 bedroom/ 1 bath condo to a high of $399,900 for a 4 bedroom/ 2.5 bath single on over 1/2 acre.

Glenolden is a great choice for anyone looking for easy rail access to Center City or northern Delaware from a close Suburban Philadelphia location. It also has convenient access to the Philadelphia International Airport, I 95, and the Blue Route. The recent drop in prices has made it an even more affordable location with great options in many price ranges.
