Harmony in the House Concert Series c/o Bottlebrush: A Gallery for the Arts

We are excited to offer the region’s first House Concert Series, “Harmony in the House.” Our successful kickoff show featured Phil Lee, Tom Mason and local artist Jeff Wiley, playing to a standing-room only audience. Every month, we will bring in singer/songwriters for your enjoyment.

What are house concerts? Small venue, intimate, live performances for all ages, featuring acoustic, folk, and singer/songwriters.

Harmony in the House is booking traveling acts, many from the Nashville area, as they pass through our region, providing low-cost entertainment by performers ordinarily seen only in large venues and cities. With the support of the regional music-loving community, we will bring you a consistently high-caliber, diverse group of performers monthly at a reasonable cost.

Linda McRae is a Canadian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has earned 2 Platinum and 3 Gold records. This gifted singer, songwriter, and musician plays clawhammer banjo, acoustic guitar, accordion and porchboard bass. Linda’s soaring honest vocals hold nothing back. She nails a song to the wall.

“Linda is one of the true, soulful pioneers of honest roots music. Her singing and playing brings honor to her heroes and to her friends and fans." --Colin Linden (Grammy Nominee, Producer, Guitarist for Bruce Cockburn, Emmy Lou Harris, Krauss & Plant)

A native of rural western Pennsylvania, Jennie Kay Snyder has been singing and writing her entire life. Trained as a soprano, Jennie Kay studied with Julie Christenson, sang in operatic and A Cappella madrigal chamber choirs often as a principal vocalist, and in several California-based bands as a back-up singer for eleven years. In her 20-year career, she has shared the stage with Townes VanZandt, Rosie Flores, Albert Lee, Tony Gylkeson, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Victoria Williams, Jonathan McKuen, and Timbuk 3.

Since her return to PA, Jennie contributed vocals on the Beagle Brothers recent release "All My Friends". She is a member of Calliope Folk Music Society's Songwriters Circle, whose new compilation CD came out in September, 2010, and teaches voice at Musik Innovations Music School and Musika Music School. Her roots-flavored original songs have been described as universal and timeless; her performance style exuberant and soulful, and her voice has drawn comparisons to Julie Miller and Iris Dement.
