This year the Lackawaxen River was voted the river of the year. There will be various activities scheduled thoughout the year but the one that caught my interest first is the Lackawaxen River Sojourn June 12th-14th. This is a time to gather with others who share the passions of nature, kayaking, camping and learning.
on the beautiful Lackawaxen from Honesdale to Lackawaxen, PA.
Experience- Pristine riparian scenery and wildlife, thrilling class two rapids, picnics, barbecues, bonfires, local history and nature talks, evening entertainment, canoes, kayaks, rafts, livery, & meals provided. Pitch your tent or sleep in a bunkhouse! For more information see http://www.lackawaxenriver.org/
The Lackawaxen River is approximately 25 to 30 miles long and it begins at the dam at the Prompton Lake and it flows to Honesdale then to Hawley and finally into the Delaware River about 10 miles south of Narrowsburg, New York. The river is well known for fishing; the trout fishing is best in the spring. Bald eagles migrate to this area so the chances are great that you can view them here. You may even see one diving for a fish!

Just wanted to let everyone know that right now could be the best time in our lifetime to purchase a home. Here are a few of the reasons why: Mortgage rates are at an all time low, hovering right around 5%, but by paying a point or more you can even get into the 4.5%-4.75% range. Rates like these only come around every 20 years or so. Second, the home buyer tax credits are still available, for first time homebuyers and now for existing home owners who would like to purchase their primary residence. First time home buyers can get up to $8,000 in tax credits and existing home owners can get up to $6,500. Third, there are a lot of houses on the market, and the majority of sellers have realized that in order for their home to sell in this market, they have to be very negotiable and they have to be ready to price their home at the current market rates. This means that you should be able to purchase a home for 15%-35% less than what they were a few years ago. Also, there are many foreclosures and short sales available in our area that you can purchase for much less than market value, being that the banks do not want to hold on to the real estate and they will normally sell the foreclosed homes for much less than market value. I hope this helps, and if I can be of help to anyone thinking of purchasing a home, please feel free to contact me at anytime.
Wishing everyone a very Happy and Blessed Holiday Season!
Sincerely,
Tim Meagher

Being born and raised in Honesdale Pennsylvania, the county seat of Wayne County, I feel very blessed to have experienced such a wonderful childhood. After graduating from Honesdale High School and then graduating from Penn State University I decided to see what else other parts of the world had to offer. I lived and worked in Allentown, PA, Toronto, Canada and for more than 5 years I lived and worked in Newport Beach, CA just south of Los Angeles. I enjoyed the excitement of Southern California and the other larger metro areas, however when it became time to settle down and raise my family, there was no question as to where I wanted to do this. So I moved back to Honesdale and now have a wonderful wife and two children. Each day I am grateful for the wonderful community in which I live. I know my children and family are safe, I know that they will go to good schools and grow up in a community where they can experience the same great childhood which I had. Each day I enjoy welcoming new families into our community as well as working with friends who I grew up with in realizing the purchase of their family's dream homes. Thanks for reading my first blog and Have a great day!
