Iced over Lake Harmony

Lake Harmony was frozen over for most of the winter. This was just prior to starting to thaw. taken at the "spilway" end of the lake (where it "flows" into the Tunhkannock and tobyhanna Creeks Watershed) Ice fishing is a popular sport here when the conditions are right (which is most winters)

Waiting on the docks for spring

Someone hoping for Spring/Summer and th ewarmer weather. Maybe the ice with the fishing then will be with a cold drink rather than fishing through the ice.

In addition to the treats/toys found in all of the the eggs, 1st, 2nd & 3rd place Easter Basket prizes are awarded to the lucky children finding the special eggs.

Checking for loot

Some of the many children checking their egg contents. Four age groups, 1600 eggs, and 12 special eggs make up the day. ALL of the eggs were found again this year (which is great as we do not need to go around to find them after the event).

An Aerial View of Lake Harmony

Lake Harmony is about 125 acres in size and while that is small, it is the largest natural lake in the Pocono Mountains. It is a spring fed lake, with over flow going into the Tobyhanna Creek .and Tunkhannock Creek Watershed. It is about 15 feet deep at the moment (it has been deeper but storm water runoff is having its impacts). A local group, Lake Harmony Concerned Citizens have been actively monitoring, measuring and treating the lake for some time now. It is improving in condition and only stands to return to its full glory with continued agressive control of what goes into it.
