The Beauty of a Backyard Butterfly Bush

It is amazing to me how often I miss the beauty of God's creation in my own backyard.

Too often we plan for the once in a lifetime trip to a far and exotic land. We dream of capturing the wonderous sunset, hearing the steady beating of the waves to the shoreline, or simply basking in a place we picture as paradise.

However, I have recently realized that below my own nose was the beauty of a Butterfly Bush. It has been drawing the attention of multitudes of butterflys. Right here in Lititz, PA I realize there is beauty. Can I see it? Can I smell it? What does it take for me to simply pause and say, "God, thank-you for the wonder of creation which surrounds me.

Each year I trim the Butterfly Bush which is in my backyard to about 4 feet. Each year it flourishes with little attention. It is amazing how large it grows.

Right here in Lititz, PA I must behold and stand in awe of those things which bless my life on a daily basis. Do I see it? Do I smell it?

Friends, take time this holiday weekend to view creation and its beauty. Richly smell the wonders of the aromas around you. Feel the grass beneath your feet. Whereever you are in this large world, stop and say, "Thanks God."
