The Mars Youth Home is a community-based services that reach at-risk youth and families with a goal to prevent youth from needing out of home placement and to provided a continuum of services following residential treatment.

The Mars Youth Home operates five residential group homes, some of which are licensed residential treatment facilities, for both male and female youth between the ages of 12-18.

Mars Home for Youth’s Longmore Academy opened in 2000. Longmore provides alternative education for at-risk youth in grades 5 through 12. MHY residents and students from surrounding public school districts benefit from a structured, supportive learning environment that is
responsive to behavioral and emotional factors that impede students’ academic success.

The student to teacher ratio never exceeds 12:1, and every teacher is Pennsylvania state-certified and teaches state academic standards thus allowing credits earned by students to transfer back to their home school district for promotion or graduation.

The curriculum incorporates traditional core subjects with electives such as art, current events and character education. Remedial interventions, including tutoring and special education are provided to address academic deficiencies.

These programs are great for kids that need to get back on track in life. The Mars Youth Home is a very well established and accredited program.

16 and a Learners Permit in Mars is tougher now than it was when I had my Learners Permit.

I have been driving for 23 years now. Life in the driving world is moving at a faster pace nowadays with more distractions like, cell phones-- texting, emails, wanting to get photo, etc...

--- and other issues like faster drivers, ipods, brighter lights on bill boards and buildings, laptops and on and on.

My step son is very popular with about 1000 contacts in his phone (why, I don't know) and he is very temped to check his phone while driving with me in the car. I do not let him of course and he refrains form dealing with any part of his phone till he puts the car in park. He KNOWS that it only takes 1 time to have a serious accident.

We form our habits then our habits form us. I pray that he develops the habit I have of not dealing with the phone while driving.
With a faster and more technically advanced society nowadays younger kids have it tougher than I did when I got my Learners Permit.
So being 16 and a Learners Permit in Mars is great-- just leave the phone anole till you put your car in park.

Mars PA is a well established community that is respected by all the local municipalities.
Mars has a spaceship in the middle of town. That spaceship is used to keep the locals in cooperation with the laws---- if anyone does not obey the law, that spaceship takes them to the Planet Mars and they are left there till they promise to be good, only then are they allowed back here in Mars PA ... Mars PA is a beautiful place and I would like to say "Thank You" to the spaceship for helping make Mars PA a beautiful and great place to live.
