The Philadelphia Block & Blob is an art show featuring some of your favorite building and sculpting materials from childhood. The work must be built with either blocks andor blobs. This can include, but is not limited to: Legos, Sculpey, Duplo, Lincoln Logs, KNex, Model Magic, Floam, Gak, Mega Blocks, Play-Doh, etc.

Back to our powerful painting transformation over at 912 E Passyunk Avenue in Bella Vista.

We swapped out the red, which made the hallway appear narrow, for a widening gray. Ahh, much more spacious already! Perhaps the most neglected part of a home is the hallway. Scuffs, poor lighting, bad paint colors all can make an already small hall space seem even smaller and claustrophobic.

• Remember, dramatic color is great for your wardrobe but not always for your walls.
• Avoid dark colors or colors with too much pigment. Avoid hanging too much artwork or oversized pieces in a small hall.
• Add accent mirrors, light paint colors, and bright lighting to open up a hallway.

You Know it is Time to Paint when…

1) Your guests say, "Wow, these colors are definitely, how should I say it? Umm... Creative! Yeah . That's the word."

2) Your mother picks the ugliest painting at the Flea Market and says, "This would look great with your lime green ceiling."

3) The prospective buyer's Realtor leaves showing feedback like this, "The black and orange walls were too bold for my client's taste."

A fresh coat of paint or a new color can change everything about a room. We headed over to a home for sale in Bella Vista to see how we could transform this property with a little bit of color. We had received some feedback particularly about the colors of the walls, so we called on the experts at Busybee Design to do a color consult with us. They came to the rescue and we have no doubt that this property is going to look dramatically different after its color makeover!

The Busybee Design Team is hard at work on their upcoming home design store on the 700 block of South Street. As the sign reads, they are planning a November 12 opening. If you RSVP to the Grand Opening, your name will be entered to win $100 towards design services.

Busybee Design Adds Depth to a Small Space

Meandering along the streets of Bella Vista, I always notice the same houses, certain buildings that stick out with their unique exteriors. Fitzwater Street is home to a few of them, starting with the colorful, red-doored building that has a veritable outdoor garden of flora. With the gray paint and the glass windows, it somehow works. We imagine that the personalities that are responsible for this wonderous decor are worth knowing. Gotta love the creative spirits in Bella Vista.

This mini-mansion on Fitzwater continues into a side street with a lengthy window and an elaborate rear entrance that has a wrought-iron gate and poles surrounding. You cannot miss this home walking by. It is one of the more interesting properties in Bella Vista.

These two dwellings on Kater Street certainly stand out with their heavy medieval-meets-Midwest doors and garages. Intricate symbols and unusual window placement make us stop and stare every time.

These funky and inspiring homes set Philadelphia streets apart and there are plenty of them to be found, as well as many properties that are just begging for some personal touches.
