Last night, Stephanie and I took a lovely walk down Liberties walk as I had two major appointments - an eye exam and a hair cut appointment. I say major in that we are so busy with real estate it is hard to make the time to do things for ourselves but we are getting better at that and finding balance in our lifes.
A brand new eye glass store just opened at Liberties Walk - Eyecandy . The store is definitely worth checking out. The also have another store at Rittenhouse Square which I hear is awesome too. Stephanie helped me pick out some new frames - they were described by Kate at the store as "geeky chicy" ... not sure if I am spelling that right. I get to pick up the glasses in a few days so am excited about that. The staff are very nice and the eye exam doctor is very pleasant although she dilated my eyes so I felt like an old man for a few hours as everthing was blurry.
After my eye appointment, we walked down the walk to DNA Salon to get my hair cut. This place is quite trendy and cool, always having some obscure music playing and the attendants and stylists are always very polite and friendly to the clients. Even though I do not have much hair left, it is nice to get cleaned up and looking good !
After the hair cut appointment, we went to The Little Candy Shoppe to pick up some special treats for the weekend ! This place is a must go and has some of the best ice cream in Philadelphia ! The mother and daughter owners are some of the nicest people we have ever met.
Before leaving we picked up some drycleaning at the Dry Cleaners and met their little mascot per se -
one of the cutest dogs we have seen in awhile although we see so many in the Northern Liberties neighborhood ! The dog performed some great tricks which I missed getting a good photo of, but every photo of this little puppy is a good one !

Stephanie and I had the opportunity to take a moment out of the day and take a walk at Liberties Walk and Liberty Lands Park in Northern Liberties today.
Frequently on the weekends at Liberties Walk local artists will set up booths where they display their art, jewelry, crafts and the like. Today we met Diane and purchased the gray soft sculpture vase made out of wool.
The day was quite pleasant - with great weather and a fun group of people in Northern Liberties !
We continued our walk into Liberty Lands Park - park maintained and run by the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association . We saw a grey woodpecker which had a good ole time going from tree to tree and pecking away ! Stephanie took a photo of myself lounging on a rock right outside the park (picture below)

Today when my wife Stephanie and I were on way back from hosting open houses in Port Richmond and Old City, we were driving in to our condo parking lot in our Northern Liberties home at 2nd and Poplar and saw the mural at the end of the street (Newmarket St) being worked on by two local artists. The mural has become quite a sight - it is a reminder of how great of a neighborhood we live in - in Northern Liberties !!
We spoke with the 2 local artists - le Josh and Erica. le Josh invited us to his art show which will be in Old City tomorrow night so we might stop by. Both artists were smiling and having fun and did not mind us talking to them and let us take their picture while they were painting.
One of the photos we really like is the mural (which is painted on the side of I-95) with the new construction Waterfront Square that can be seen in the background. It shows a picture of art and development mixed together which from our perspective, is pretty darn cool.
After taking the photos and talking to the artists, on our stroll back to our condo Stephanie said "We live in a great neighborhood". I could not agree more !
This is the photo with the mural and the new construction of Waterfront Square in the background.
'
This is a closer up photo of the artists "le Josh" and "Erica"
This photo shows off some of the exquisite detail of the art !
This photo is of myself with the artists le Josh and Erica working hard in the background.
Is amazing ! Life is beautiful !

I had the opportunity to take some nice walks in our neighborhood with my wife Stephanie over the weekend in Northern Liberties and thought to myself what a great neighborhood we live in !!!
Stephanie and I have lived in Northern Liberties for approximately 4 years and have loved every minute of it. I kinda think of Northern Liberties as a center city lifestyle that is a neighborhood. On both Saturday and Sunday, we relaxed in the Liberties Land Park which is an amazing park that is maintained and run by the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association. Many people come to relax, bring their dogs and childern, play frisbee or volleyball. The day we were there people set up to play horseshoe. Many weekends throughout the summer there are music events and other get-togethers at the park. And speaking of dogs, right across the street is the Orianna Dog Park. On a side note, I have been trying to get Stephanie to let us have a dog but since we work close to 24/7 it has been a tough argument to win. We still have our 2 cats to manage !
In addition to the parks, the Northern Liberties neighborhood boasts some of the best restaurants in the city with the likes of The Standard Tap, N 3rd restaurant, Sovalo, Bar Ferdinand and the list goes on and on. There are some great fashion stores - one of Stephanie's favourite is Arcadia which as an ecofriendly them. We collaborated with some of the local Northern Liberties business owners when we held an event at the Lawrence St condos in December (for more info on that see http://www.thesomersteam.com/lawrence/1213event.html )
To top it off, the people and the neighborhood association really care and contribute to the neighborhood. We joke sometimes that when we are showing properties to buyers in Northern Liberties that we can be a little bit partial and biased towards Northern Liberties since we live in the area. The development and new construction in the neighborhood has been incredible. There are so many different types of historical homes, new construction condos and townhomes and the like and the growth is just beginning. Thus, it is always a pleasure and a lot of fun to be showing and selling properties in Northern Liberties !!! All and all, it is a great place to live !
Below are photos of where Stephanie and I live at 2nd and Poplar "Poplar Estates" and Liberty Lands Park where we relaxed this past weekend.
