If you were old enough to remember the play Annie when you were a kid, then you might want to see it again as an adult. Decades after seeing the play about the orphaned red haired girl who was adopted by the super-rich "Daddy" Warbucks, I got the chance to see Annie again at The Shawnee Playhouse which is running through August 27th. I can honestly say that I appreciate the play more as an adult and the performers at The Shawnee Playhouse are so professional that you get a Broadway quality performance. What made the play extra special for me was that I had an old friend and classmate, Karen Doherty Raub, Ensemble (Bum, Nun, Mrs. Pugh), who I hadn't see in over 20 years, starring in the play along with her daughter Michaela who starred as Tessie, one of Annie friends in the orphanage. Whether it is Annie, which is sure to delight you and your family, or another one of the many fantastic shows at the historic Shawnee Playhouse, make sure you support your local performing arts and take in a show soon.
