THEY TREATED HIM LIKE A KING!

For anyone who has had to use a Hospice Service you know how wonderful (or not so wonderful) they can be. This past week I spent many long hours in a Hospice Center that I have to let people know about. For those who don't know what Hospice is, it is a specialized care for the terminally ill in their final hours or days.

My father in law was diagnosed with liver cancer last year and actually over the past year did very well considering what a terrible disease that is. Last week we went to visit my inlaws because it was my mother in law's birthday and had a nice visit although we could see my father in law Michael was starting to deteriorate. He was weak, didn't want to eat and wasn't talking much. I suggested to my mother in law that maybe it was time for a nurse. The following day she said the Dr. had told her that he was not eligible for a nurse or nursing care because he was still mobile, feeding himself etc...I was surprised but hey I am not the Dr. Within 24 hours I received a call that he was in the hospital and was being transferred to a hospice center because they had discovered he now had brain metastasis. (The cancer had now traveled to the brain) I called the necessary family members and headed out on the 1 1/2 hour drive myself. He was taken to VNA Hospice of Monroe County in Pennsylvania. I cannot say enough about this place. It was beautiful, peaceful and the staff phenomenal. They treated Michael like a King.

His room had plenty of chairs for all of the family members, multiple nurses just for him and anything we could have possibly needed at any given moment. He was able to slip away as pain free as possible and with his dignity totally intact. They didn't place restrictions on us for time we could spend with him and were patient with our demands, questions and devastation. Death is always devastating but when it happens in a course of just 3 days from sitting and talking and having a good time to comatose and no response it is hard to wrap your mind around it. It takes a special person to work in a place like this and if or when your loved ones time comes for Hospice this is the place for them.

So to my father in law Michael we all love you so and will miss you always.

The Realtor Reviews...Venuto Old World Pizzeria

Jason Feinman, Realtor, e-PRO: Real Estate Agent in East Stroudsburg, PA

A great, fairly new addition to the downtown Stroudsburg area is Venuto's Old World Pizzeria. The feature great thin crust pizza in a variety of styles and they are named after some great Italian artists. The pizza and calzones are a work of art themselves. I had a made to order calzone that was so huge I couldn't believe my eyes! My wife had a pizza topped with buffalo mozzarella and basil and it was delicious. It is roomy inside and a very nice staff serves you. I highly recommend you take the entire family out to downtown Stroudsburg and enjoy something far from just ordinary pizza.
