Make sure to have your tree out to the curb the night before. Tress in plastic bags will NOT BE picked up.
Wishing you a wonderful, healthy and successful 2012.

It was a fairly gorgeous day for about 2 hours today and I was able to take a few photos of the sugar maples in Mill Creek, East Goshen Township, Chester County. The builder put these beauties in when the homes in Mill Creek were built. Some have died but for the most part, most are alive and well and starting to show off their autumn colors!
Mill Creek is a single family home development of 32 to 34 homes located off of Boot Road. Being a small development, it's a plus that one of the roads, Chambord Circle connects to the larger neighborhood of Grand Oak enabling residents to take long walks and enjoy the scenery. Mill Creek is within walking distance to the Hersheys Mill Genuardi's, a dry cleaner, Rite Aide, First National Bank of Chester County, Vano's Pizza, a Subway and a hair stylist. Located near route 202 for easy access to the airport and all shopping.

Last night my husband Jack and I dragged my son Max, treated my son Max to some pizza and donuts at the Goshen Country Fair! The fair comes to East Goshen the first week of every August and I love it. Last night was the first opportunity I had to visit and we thought it would be fun if our sons accompanied us. Mike, our 22 year old already had plans, but we insisted the Max join us. It turns out it's not much fun insisting adolescents join you anywhere, but we made the best of it.
The pizza is my favorite part.
The Goshen Country Fair is run by volunteers and standing behind the pizza counter was Don Walls, the man who coached Max through about 5 years of soccer during his younger years. If Max hadn't been standing next to me, I doubt the coach would have recognized him. After shaking his hand, Don shook his head and said he couldn't believe Max was now taller than he is!
We roamed around, Jack tested his strength with the big sledge hammer. Max tested his pitching arm by trying to dunk the pretty girl in the tank and I tried to talk Max into riding the little dragon roller coaster with me for old time's sake. Jack came within inches of being the strongest man in the world. Max came within inches of dunking the pretty girl and I was miles away from coaxing Max onto the kiddie ride.
The highlight of the fair for most everyone, judging from the long line, are the firehouse donuts. We stopped to get a dozen and a half.

I'd say, even though my 15 year old came along kicking and screaming somewhat reluctantly, a good time was had by all.
Tonight is the last night for the fair, so if you haven't stopped by, you owe it to yourself. It's a great time.

Until next year!

East Goshen is not considered rural. It's not considered country. But the first week in August always bring a little of rural Chester County to East Goshen with the Goshen Country Fair!

Rides for the kids, shows and music, livestock, food, games and just about everything you've come to expect from a good old fashioned Country Fair. And the best part is that it is a 100% volunteer organization and benefits The Goshen Fire Company.
We've always brought the kids to this fair. Now, at 22 and 15, they are too old or too cool to visit with their parents. Pictured here is Mike, my 22 year old at age 1 on his first pony ride! My husband Jack and I still go, if only to pick up the best donuts around!
Click here to read a great history of Goshen Fire Company and the fair.
Don't miss it. It runs from today, 8/1 to Saturday, 8/6.
Located just off of Route 3 at Ellis Lane.

This spring was very wet and the summer is very dry, but there is still beauty in my East Goshen garden. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. Yesterday's rain refreshed the earth. These photos were taken last week. Enjoy the rest of July!
