The Latest Lake Norman Water Restrictions - Sep 29 09:24 AM
It seems like almost every day there is a new restriction on water use added to the communities and counties surrounding Lake Norman. For those of you who don't know, North Carolina is in a severe drought, our lake levels are so low that boating has become nearly impossible.
Here are this week's new restrictions:
Duke Energy has banned the pumping of water from Lake Norman for lawn irrigation.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities has banned all lawn irrigation

It's hot here in Charlotte NC, hotter than usual (over 100 degrees today and HUMID!). And it's dry-we haven't had nearly enough rain lately.
So the local governments (that is, Concord, Kannapolis, Harrisburg, and Landis in Cabarrus County) are asking folks to voluntarily get smart with their water usage. It's not required yet-if we would all pitch in and behave, mandatory restrictions wouldn't be necessary.

Recently, the Cabarrus County Commissioners decided to increase, not just increase but DOUBLE, developers fees for each lot to $8,000. Out today, the numbers for S&P's Case/Shiller survey for February, which examines home values in 20 housing markets. While Miami and Las Vegas were at the bottom with 22.8% and 21.7% 1 year price decreases, Charlotte was the only city in the study with appreciation, even though it was a mere 1.5% year over year. My baby is 4 years old and she will be starting kindergarten in the Johnston County School District in August 2008. She is my baby and the only girl. But how joyous I was because that means I get 3 more hours a day to go to meetings, luncheons and blog. The first day of school for the 2008-2009 school year is August 25th.
