Well, it is STILL a great time to purchase real estate!! Even radio announcers, who shall remain nameless--but play the piano and tell us how to live a good life, say real estate is still a good investment. Prices have now come to a place that buyers can afford more home. And buyers are getting an interest rate that still is affordable. WV still has homes priced in the $140,000.'s. That is amazing to me as a 30 year REALTOR! When you hear consumers talk about their own home, look them in the eye and you will know what a wonder it is to own! Huntington Home Sales Numbers Revealed
Front page - USA Today - Money section - "Home Sales Plummeted 13% in '07". According to data from the Huntington Board of REALTORS MLS, the number of 2007 residential sales in our area increased by 7%. The average sold price is a 7% increase compared to the selling price in 2006.
More good news for the area market are the statistics which indicate area homebuyers are investing more in their home. The number of homes sold at or above $200,000 increased by a whopping 41%.

According to MRIS, During December 2007, 86 homes sold in Berkeley county with average sale pice of 184K. The volume was 23% less than 207 sales volume. Days on the marklet for those 86 homes were 97 days which was a 30% increase compare to 2006 December. Active listings are around 1400-1500.
