About Aiken's Downtown Aiken

As y'all know - we've got some new construction going on for the past few months next door ----- what I haven't told you is that on the other side of us they've been working away , too! Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...here I am, stuck in the middle of all this construction!! hahahaha.

Well, the old Post Office is getting a fresh look (maintaining the historical aspect) for some new tenants. Yup - we're gonna have some new neighbors :)

Here's the old post office (on the corner of Park Ave & Laurens St - downtown Aiken)

Todd Lista Photography has been our neighbor in this historic building for many years - he has moved out to make room for some new tenants to occupy his building. Stewart Builders has been hard at it - turning it into office space - keeping the historic charm at the same time! They have done a great job.

Anyway - today our friend Todd brought us lunch! Just his way of saying 'thanks for putting up with all the construction noise/mess... next door'. WHAT A GUY! THANKS TODD - U ROCK :) Lunch was deeee-lish! -- and dessert was to-die-for! Thanks again neighbor :)

...we've got some more construction going on! The train depot at the corner of Park Avenue and Union Street is really coming along.

This is a $3,000,000 project in our little city. The train was a very important part of Aiken's history. Really, we would have been nothing without it! When it is completed it will replicate the original depot as historically accurate as possible. The depot will house a railroad museum - and will be used as a visitor's center for the City of Aiken. The Parks, Rec & Tourism Dept will have an office there as well.

I'm looking forward to the grand opening! I'll keep you posted :)

it's that time of year again! Time for the annual Downtown Aiken Beach Blast :) A ton (more or less, lol) of sand is brought to our Newberry Street party block - get ready for toes in the sand! ahhhhh :)

Not just toes in the sand....but sand toys, too - till the sun goes down anyway. Once the sun goes down, it's time for the adults to do some shagging! Yessirreebob - that's our state dance. The Shag :)
