April 24, 2010

Central came into being because of a railroad boom that began in 1873. The town's name represents the fact that it is midway between Atlanta and Charlotte. The railroad decided to set up its shops here and the place was called Central. And a great way to fun while learning is to attend the Central Railroad Festival!

The Railroad Festival features tours of the Central Railway Museum, local food, music and arts and crafts vendors.

Free entertainment for children will include train displays, a musical show for children, a balloon artist, a train ride, a hayride, face painting and a Thomas the Tank display and activities, as well as a tour of the Central red caboose and a rail car.

Be sure to check out the website for the Central Railroad Festival for more info and the lineup of musicians scheduled to appear!

Admission to the festival is free and convenient parking is available!
