LOL FRIDAY - 12 For the Road

Myrtle Beach Real Estate by Mirela Monte: Real Estate Brokerage in Myrtle Beach, SC

I'm writing an unauthorized autobiography.

Marriage is like witness protection. You get a new identity and a new home, and you're not allowed to see your old friends anymore.

Money is the root of all wealth.

Money is the root of all evil. For more information, send $10 to me.

Man: A creature made at the end of the workweek when God was tired.

Man is the only animal that blushes. Or needs to. Mark Twain

Last year for Christmas, I got a humidifier and a dehumidifier. I thought I'd put them in the same room and let them fight it out.

It's been so long since I've had sex, I've forgotten who ties up whom.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

I'm having amnesia and Deja Vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

If the world were a logical place, men would be the ones who ride horses sidesaddle.

NEWS YOUR WAY!

Myrtle Beach Real Estate by Mirela Monte: Real Estate Brokerage in Myrtle Beach, SC

I have said for quite a long time that we need "News Your Way". Here are the guidelines for this new concept:

For every item of "bad news", the media would be required to give us a piece of "good news".

Example:

The economic index fell by another point (bad news).

BUT:

The sale of alcohol has gone up again by another five points (good news).

Another example:

The overall employment dropped by 2% (bad news).

BUT:

Certain sectors of the work force have shown significant increases by as much as 30% - for example security guards, police, psychiatric facilities' and funeral homes' personnel (good news).

Let's conjure up some more examples! It's open mike night on AR and the lines are now open. Please be a part of this!

Take This Gift Card and Shove It!

Myrtle Beach Real Estate by Mirela Monte: Real Estate Brokerage in Myrtle Beach, SC

Gift cards have been around for a long time and many of us like giving them as gifts, especially around the holidays. BE CAREFUL with it this year! Many stores will be closing in 2009 and your gifts may become WORTHLESS pieces of plastic.

A technique called "Bankruptcy Planning" incorporates the selling of gift cards as a strategic business move for companies that are having financial issues. They sell the gift cards, yet later on, many of them will not honor the very gift cards they sold mere weeks prior.

It is all perfectly legal and the consumer has no recourse. The following stores MAY present this problem with their gift cards:

Circuit City (filed Chapter 11)

Ann Taylor 117 stores nationwide closing;

Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug, and Catherine's to close 150 stores nationwide;

Eddie Bauer to close stores27 stores and more after January;
