Greenwood SC Realtor Tells A Real Fish Tale

I write often about life with my dad because life with him was not your run of the mill childhood experiences. It was interesting to say the least. He was a little on the eclectic side. This particular story still makes me smile when I think about it years later.

When he was a young boy my dad took up with some local Indians (I forget what tribe it was) out in Oklahoma and he was practically raised by them, my grandmother said they couldn't keep him at home. He always wanted to be outdoors preferably in the woods or on a lake. He spent most of his time with the Indians where he learned to hunt and fish to eat, not just as a pastime. My family hardly ate anything except what my dad hunted or fished except chicken. It was a real treat to get a beef steak and we never had a domestic turkey at Thaksgiving it was always wild turkey. This background information about him will help you understand better his way of thinking. man fishing

My dad had gone fishing this particular day on our local lake Lake Greenwood,he didn't get home until very late and decided not to clean his catch until the following morning. He put the fish in the tub (our only bathroom mind you) and left the water dripping to keep the water circulating to keep the fish alive. (he did this often), This you have to understand was something we had to deal with in our house more than a few times. I've been embarrassed many times when I had friends over and their reaction to seeing fish in a bathtub.

ScreamingAnyway he got home late that night after we were all in bed. My mom, a very easy going lady who went with the flow, she had to be to live with my dad,, had to get up sometime during the night and go to the bathroom (not turning on the light). Then out of nowhere in the pitch black something suddenly lunged at her and landed at her feet, she completely taken off guard, terrified, screamed loudly and began frantically stomping on whatever it was.

My dad hearing her screaming and stomping came running in the bathroom to see what the problem was, turned on the light to see one of his precious Large Mouth Bass laying lifeless on the floor, stomped to death. He didn't miss a beat, he scooped the fish up leaving my mom sitting in stunned silence and ran outside in nothing but his boxers and proceeded to gut and clean the fish, came back in wrapped it, put it in the freezer, washed his hands and went back to bed as if nothing had ever happened. It never occurred to him to just toss the fish out! That was part of the meal for the next day.

Only in the Cost house would a fish warrant such top priority. My mom after getting over her shock chalked it up to life with daddy and went back to bed. She never said a word to my dad that maybe his priorities might be a bit backward. We had many laughs after the fact as it was told over and over through the years it was just another one of those life with Neil Cost things that you would have had to have known him to appreciate.

Can Toyota Pull Their Face Out Of The Turf?

It looked pretty dismal with their two most valuable players Camry and Prius, on the bench. The team let the fans down taking their winning streak for granted resting on their past triumphs not adhering to the standards,it was their attention to detail and quality that created their success. It appears that some of the team got sloppy or maybe it was only one team member that spoiled the whole batch. Unlikely. Will they be able to win back their position? That is questionable. Much like a cheating spouse, once you've lost the trust it is sometimes impossible to win it back or at the very best it takes a very long time of making no mistakes and causing no suspicion.Horse running

Their image and branding was to perfection, on the way up. I was impressed this morning when I saw their recovery ad this morning, it the right nerve, at least with me.The ad claims that they will stop production on new cars and focus entirely on cleaning up their mistakes. I think it is worthy of at least at second chance to prove themselves trustworthy. It will be a hard uphill battle and make no mistake the competition smells blood and will be in hot pursuit to take the giant down. personally I don't own a Toyota (I was just a hair away from buying one a month or so ago) but drove a Hyundai and was very impressed, am still impressed with it and pretty darn happy I didn't follow the my first impulse) What happened to Toyota can happen to anyone who is in business, it's quality that brings the sales and sales that bring the rewards. It is never an option to compromise quality no matter how big you are because the competition is right on your heals waiting for you to stumble. There is nothing that takes the place of quality, ever.

Easy 15 Minutes To The Table Meal For Four

Like most Realtors I lead a very busy life and my schedule is well let's just say erratic. I try to cook at home most week nights and I have a rule that the meal can't take more than 30 minutes to prepare, I was a 30 minute cook long before Rachael Ray hit the scene, if I had know how much money I could have made cooking I might have pursued that instead of real estate. It is recession proof. BUt too late for that she already got the show and I'm already addicted to real estate so I'll just share my recipes for free. Men and their wives used to travel from all over the country to hunt with my dad Neil Cost the reknown Turkey Call Maker and to get achance to talk turley with hiCooking with Sally Morrism and sometimes they would spend a couple of days at our house while they were in town and he would always treat them to his Ham Fried Rice. It became the most requested meal by the majority of the visitors. So I'm going to share this family recipe with you.It feeds four or more just increase everything if needed.

Ingrediants

1.Center slice of ham

1. Minute Rice

3. Bunch of spring oinions

4. Bean sprouts (canned is ok but drain really well)

5. 2 eggs

6.Soy Sauce

Prep & Cook

Cook rice according to directions for 4 servings

Cut oinions in to pieces stems and all set aside

Cut ham into small bite size cubes and saute in a skillet with a little bit of oil about 5 minutes or so.

Scramble two eggs and add to ham and toss until done. Add oinion and stir those until tender another 2 or 3 minutes. Add bean sprouts don't stir just lay on top and cove,r cook until wilted if canned or tender if fresh.(you may need to add a small bit of water about 1 or 2 TBS) Add cooked rice and mix it all together then add soy sauce to taste. Add alittle and mix it up and taste until you get enough. You can always add more at the table.

It is a great meal in minutes add a salad and some bread and you're ready to eat. Try it and let me know how you liked it!
