Some people have not ever heard of Tellico Plains, located in East Tennesee.  I have tried to make a trip to Tellico Plains for the Christmas parade each year but have had other demanding things that had to be done.

I just was able to enjoy the parade via You Tube.  If you follow my blog, you already know that this is a special place for me.  It respresents a peaceful lifestyle in the mountains near Gatlinburg and Knoxville and the opportunity to share the beauty of this part of our country.p>

Gorgeous views are almost everywhere in Tellico Plains. The quaint village of Tellico Plains has a yearly Christmas parade.  Enjoy the parade in the mountains of Tennessee, 2009.

There are many wonderful free things to do and see in Monroe County Tennessee and its small towns that border the Cherokee National Forest. My husband and I christened our new Harley Touring bike by riding over the Cherohala Skyway. We have microphones in our helmets so we can communicate to each other and point out all the attractions, just in case one misses one point of interest.

Our route started at the outskirts of Tellico Plains. We wanted to be fully prepared for our ride so we stopped at one of the nice restaurants by the gorgeous Tellico River. We enjoyed our burger and listened to the Tellico River meander down its stream. What a beautiful place to just stop and let the world go by and smell the fresh air and engulf all that nature gave us to enjoy and love. Beautiful new townhomes have been built by the river along with a very pretty bridge that greets the mountains visitors. This bridge goes over to the homeowners property and is just so interesting and pretty.

My husbands favorite start of the Skyway is to visit Bald Falls first. This is beautiful scenery. The river runs close to the winding road and mountains raise straight up. People swim, white water raft, trout fish and some just sit and watch the river do its natural thing. Bald Falls is about 16 miles on a side road before starting up Cherohala.

The first time I ever went up the Cherohala was in early November. We got to the first lookout and had snow flakes. Our bike's christening run was in early fall. We were in the clouds at times. I would suggest to any biker to bring their bike to make a ride on the Cherohala Skyway and don't miss beautiful Bald Falls. This Tellico Bikers will tell you that you will have a ball seeing all of this beauty. Always ride safe and think of others and be responsible.
