The Tavern is an Area Restaurant which is located at 222 East Main Street, in historic Abingdon, Va. and is just minutes away from Bristol Tn. Upon entering this historic establishment which was built in 1779, you feel as if you are stepping back in history. The building was originally used as a tavern and overnight inn for stagecoach travelers. Among its most prominent guests were President Andrew Jackson, Louis Philippe, King of France and Pierre Charles L'Enfant, the designer of Washington D.C.

The atmosphere is idyllic for a romantic dinner for two or a dinner party with friends. Dining beside the fireplace on the upper level is a cozy experience or you could dine outside in a beautifully landscaped courtyard which is accented with romantic outdoor lighting. A glass of wine from its impressive wine list compliments any meal which is made by hand at the time of the order.

The Tavern is a must dining experience. The quality food is to be savored and enjoyed, while the atmosphere is very quaint and definately something to be remembered!

I live in a great area. There is absolutley so much to do. We have four seasons, none of them brutal. We have culture, education, professionals, outdoors beauty, mountains, lakes, hiking, white water rafting, much more. We have a good mix of people. We are all different. Some from the north, west, east and some grew up here. We mesh well. Today I would like to share with you our mountain bike trails. I was first introduced to them about 6 weeks ago. It took me that long to get back on them! They are kind of like ski trails, they have easy, intermediate and BLACK DIAMOND! Well, just like how I learned to snow ski, day one and my friend slips in a black diamond with out me even knowing. aghhhh...it was fun, but boy did I take home some scrapes and bruises. Come on, I'm nor 12 anymore. Last week I went out twice, I've hit all the trails, sticking mainly to the easy trails. It's soooooo much fun. You are going, up, down, hitting roots and rocks, going through water and rocks again. Sounds kind of crazy, but so much fun. Plus all along the trails you see the beauty of the area. We had a young buck walk up to us, maybe 20 feet away. I wish I would have had my camera then. I did manage a few pictures from the time before though. Enjoy. and come vist Northeast Tennessee
