Yep, that's right sports fans. Last night (Thursday, Feb. 5th) Tennessee (UT) women's basketball Pat Summitt's Lady Vols beat Georgia 73-43 and gave Coach Summitt her 1,000th career win.

Coach Summitt being showered by her team after win number 1,000 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Coach Summett has coached the Lady Vols in 1,187 games to date. Won 1,000 and lost 187; that's an impressive won-lost percentage.
But even more impressive is the fact that 100% of her players that have played out their eligibility at UT have graduated and received a degree!
That's right, a 100% graduation rate.
As if being the only coach, male or female, to ever win 1,000 games AND and have all her student athletes graduate she's racked up a few more awards and accolades during her 35 year long career:

The famous "Summitt Stare" in action during a game. This look means Pat is not happy and you had better change your ways immediately.
We had the pleasure of having her speak once at a Tennessee Association of Realtor's convention. About 5 minutes after she started talking I knew immediately why her teams were so good.
This lady has what is known as PRESENCE in bold and all caps! She can command attention by just walking into a room and standing there.
The famous "Summitt Stare" is her trademark look she gives often and it usually always gets the results she's after.
One of my fellow Realtors, Lynn Canan (Collins), played for the Lady Vols in the early to mid 80s. Apparently Lynn is a bit camera shy, I couldn't find a photo of her anywhere.
Congratulation Coach Summitt, not only on win number 1,000 for for all you've contributed to the University and your players through the years.

This Saturday, the Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama rolls into Knoxville to face the University of Tennessee Volunteers. In my honest opinion, this is the premier rivalry in the SEC. From the heartbreaking Volunteer loss to Alabama (27-7) on October 20, 1962 at the dedication game of Neyland Stadium to this the 91st meeting of these two school's storied athletic histories.
Though the Volunteers are having a difficult season this year, to put it mildly, these types of rivalries can often bring out the inner beast in players. You have Philip Fulmer and 16 starters from last year on the Volunteers' team who will be defending Neyland Stadium, the third largest college stadium in the country. Ready for the challenge is Nick Saban's Crimson Tide. Rolling into Knoxville sitting at #2 in the BCS rankings, the Crimson Tide represent a major challenge for the Volunteers.
Knoxville is proud of to be home to the renowned University of Tennessee and its top notch football program. It is with this sense of pride that the city of Knoxville welcomes the Crimson Tide and the 102,000+ fans. From the tradions of tailgating to the singing of Rocky Top, Saturday will be one of those iconic fall football days. With a chill in the air, the game is set to begin at 7:45 PM (EST) and will be televised on ESPN.
