One of the most amazing Christmas light shows you've ever seen is playing nightly at Shadrack Water Sports & RV just off Watt Road in West Knoxville.
Over 250,000 colors lights dance to music starting with a peppy song titled "Christmas With A Capital "C" by Go Fish to the more traditional "Silent Night" by Mannheim Steamroller
Great Christmas entertainment for the whole family. The Christmas light show is open 6-10 p.m. weekdays, 6-11 p.m. weekends past New Year’s. Admission is $10,00 per carload during the week and $12.00 on weekends. They said over 2,000 cars have toured the grounds and watched the light show since it opened in mid November.
Fun for all the some of the proceeds go to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

For the next two Saturday nights (July 12th & 19th) the Knoxville Observers Astronomy Club will be hosting a stargazing party at nearby Norris Dam State Park
If you're never been to a stargazing pary I guarantee you it will be a delightful experience for all ages.
Seeing the Milky Way Galaxy undimmed by city lights is a sight to behold; it looks like a huge river of light flowing across the night skies.
And seeing the rings around the planet Saturn, the many moons of Jupiter, and just how red Mars actually appears close up will amaze and delight everyone.

This is the Milky Way Galaxy on a moonless night when it's at its brightest. Spectacular!
So gather up the family, pack a few snacks, and head on up to Norris Dam State Park either of the next two Saturday nights. The program starts at 8:45 pm with a short video and then everyone will go out into the parking lot by the Park swimming pool and look at stars, planets, and the moon.
The Knoxville Observers will have several telescopes set up to get a close up look at the heavenly bodies.
Fun for all ages and the price is one of my favorites, it's FREE.

A recent article in Money magazine lists 5 new rules for today’s homebuyers. After reading the article I found that I agree with all 5 of them.
New rule 1: DO NOT try to time the bottom of this market. We may be there or close already or not. In any instance it’s very unlikely you’ll hit it at the exact bottom. Case in point; several years ago my wife and I decided to refinance our former home in west Knoxville because mortgage rates were falling. I had 5 different mortgage bankers and myself watching the market trying to figure out where the bottom was.

Well, spring has official arrived in the greater Knoxville, Tennessee area.
Lots of Robins in sight, I mowed our lawn for the 4th time yesterday, and the annual Dogwood Arts Festival is underway.

Red Dogwood blossoms in Knoxville, Tennessee
Billed as the "best 17 days of spring", Knoxville's Dogwood Arts Festival features lots of great events from music, to art, and best of all, the Dogwood Trails.
Our Dogwood trails consist of over 70 miles of scenic drives through seven of Knoxville’s most beautiful and architecturally significant neighborhoods. The 2008 featured trail is Sequoyah Hills, one of my favorites.
This year's parade had to be postponed until April 26th due to threatening weather so if you thought you missed it you have another chance. The parade features Knox County high school marching bands and community entries along with other themed entries. I love a parade and the Dogwood Arts parade and the Santa Claus parades are 2 of my local favorites.
This weekend (April 11-13) is the festival on Market Square Mall downtown featuring music, dancing, arts exhibits, local craftsmen, and of course food.
I took this picture this morning from the end of my driveway looking up the street; lots of Redbuds and Dogwoods in full bloom.
