The movie, Picture Perfect, is a light romantic comedy that features Jennifer Aniston as an advertising executive. She creates a marketing campaign for "Gulden's Mustard". In the film the Gulden's tagline becomes "#2 and that ain't bad". The campaign features famous people who have come in second. One of these people was Cindy Crawford who according to the movie came in second in her class at STANFORD! Therefore she was considered to be "#2 and that ain't bad" especially since she is still one of the most beautiful woman in the world.
Today's mindset for so many people is that #2 is just the first loser. That the only winners in the world are the one's that come in first place. Many give little if any credit for participation or beating out the rest of the competition. In most cases we can never recall who came in 2nd place in any major sporting event or who the Oscar nominees were. We remember the WINNER!
The same is true in any real estate market. If you were to ask the general public who the #1 agent for residential sales in your area is they would probably get that correct. In 2008 the number 1 Realtor in the Lexington/Henderson County Tennessee market is Linda Lipscomb, who is my broker and mentor. But out of the remaining 30 or so agents in Lexington who is number 2. If asked I think that most people would respond with the name of one of our communities long time brokers or agents that have graced the pages of our local newspaper for decades. BUT they'd be wrong.
Number 2 in our neck of the wood's is quite a surprise even to me. For an agent being in the business for less than 3 years to be in second place in a challenging year like 2008 is a shock!
So in a world that readily dismisses the second place finish, I am PROUD to say that for 2008 I was #2 and that ain't bad"!!
I am Kathy Fisher and I proudly sell homes, farms and land in Lexington/Henderson County Tennessee. If you need to buy or sell property in West Tennessee, please call me. I am here to help!

My Dad has been pretty sick the last few weeks. A stroke several years ago has left him very fragile.
I visited him at the hospital today. As the doctors struggle to find the right medication to help him fight the infection from pneumonia, he lay there in a coma.
I sat bedside just staring at him. Thankful that he is my DAD. So proud of him. How much I have learned from him over the years. How many times he has said to me "You can do it"!
Dad has always been a risk taker. Starting his business in the 50's when times were just as uncertain. My Dad was an awesome TV salesperson and repairman. I can still remember when color TV pictures hit the market. Everybody we knew wanted to replace their old black and white TV's. We were rich.....or so we thought. My Mom got a new stove, and all us kids got a bicycle.
I remember when we built our new home in 1957. We were the first family in the community to have an indoor bathroom. With four children, can you believe one bath. Amazing what we take for granted today.
Dad has always been a GOD fearing, Church going man. Firm, high expectations, consequences were certain if you disobeyed or broke the rules, demanded respect, kind, and always a family man.
I am certain there is no finer man than my DAD. He has taught me the kind of person I want to be from his example.
Every child deserves a DAD like mine.....how lucky I am.

Curly's Kids is an organization started several years ago by Curly Freeman.
Curly's Kids is a group of caring adults who move heaven and earth to make sure children have a brighter Christmas. That they receive at least one present. Can you see little one with that big ole smile when the gifts are delivered. Quite a sight!
Curly's Kids goal this year was to help 30 children. Would you believe the total number was 50.
It just goes to show what a giving and caring community we have here in Lexington, TN.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
And for those of you considering a move in 2009.....don't make a decision without checking out Henderson County, TN. Truly a place to make home.

The employees of the Lexington TN City Water & Gas Departments are pretty amazing folks.
Why??
Because they constantly help those in need. One example. Instead of allowing the City to spend money for door prizes given away at their annual Christmas Party, they decided to donate the money to two local charities. What an unselfish act!!! We could all learn a lesson here.
Think about the upcoming Inauguration. What if the President-Elect made a decision. Yes, a stand not to allow the spending of millions of dollars on this big party. Why if he lead the change to donate the funds allocated to this function to a worthwhile charity or event. Wouldn't that be a wonderful gesture to all of the Country.
May your 2009 be filled with good health, wealth, and many, many blessings!
