Posted Addison Foreclosures for February, 2010

Lorrie Semler, Addison Real Estate Specialist: Real Estate Agent in Addison, TX

Posted Addison Foreclosures for February, 2010

Addison, Texas has not been as hard hit with foreclosures as other parts of the country, but foreclosAuctionures do exist here. The foreclosure auction is held at the county courthouse on the first Tuesday of each month. Properties on the following streets are posted for the February 2, 2010 auction and include 1 condo and raw land:

  • Addison Circle (condo at Aventura)
  • Dallas Parkway (raw land)

If you think you might be interested in purchasing a property at the foreclosure auction, I suggest that you attend the auction for a few months, learn the procedure, and do your research about any property you might want to bid on. In Dallas County, the auctions are in the basement of the courthouse and trustees representing multiple banks sell at the same time. It's quite an interesting process. Only about 5% of the posted properties sell. The rest are taken back by the banks and may eventually be listed through real estate agents. It is usually the properties with lots of equity that sell.

Super 8 Motel in Addison Wants P&Z Variance

Super 8 Motel in Addison Wants P&Z Variance.

If you live near Midway Road and Beltway in Addison Texas, you are probably aware of the Super 8 motel Addison's Super 8 Motelthat sits behind Jaxx Steakhouse. Be advised that the owner of the Super 8 has requested that the Planning & Zoning Commission allow a tower to be built atop the hotel so that he can display signage on all sides of the tower. Specifically, he is proposing an amendment to an Addison ordinance to allow a change in building height above 35 feet.

A public hearing on the matter is being held by the Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday, January 28, at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Addison Town Hall, 5300 Belt Line Road. Homeowners in the Towne Lake Townhomes to the west of the motel are opposed to the variance and plan to attend the P&Z meeting.

Homeowners in the Midway Meadows subdivision and Pecan Square Condominiums might also be affected by the passage of the variance, as property values could be impacted. If you can't attend the meeting, send your thoughts on the matter to Carmen Moran, Town of Addison staff liaison for the Planning and Zoning Commission, cmoran@addisontx.gov.
