Q: In Midway Meadows in Addison, what are those funky little doors on the houses for?
A: I'm so glad you asked! There are many benefits of living in Addison, Texas. Some of the residents of the Midway Meadows subdivision, and specifically those who are part of the Addison Timbers Homeowners Association, have an extra benefit. The small, elevated door you see off to the side of the garage door on the outside of the home has a corresponding small door on the inside of the garage.
Not all residents of Midway Meadows take advantage of this benefit, but many do. Residents do not have to put their trash out on the curb for Monday and Thursday morning pick up. The sanitation worker opens the small door, retrieves the garbage bags the resident places inside from within the garage, and brings the bags to the truck. Recycling bins must still be placed on the curb for Monday pickup, but Midway Meadows residents have the option of putting the trash on the curb, or placing it inside the trash area inside that small door.
Many of the Midway Meadows homeowners have matched their garbage doors to the colors, textures, and materials of the homes.
There are 104 homes in the Addison Timbers HOA and all were built with garbage doors.
Please let me know if you'd like to take advantage of this Midway Meadows perk by purchasing a home in Midway Meadows in Addison Texas.

A BYOB homeowners association party in the Midway Meadows subdivision of Addison Texas turned into a BYOD (bring your own dog) party last evening. Residents and guest of the Addison Timbers Homeowners Association (ATHOA), under the direction of Virginia Wallace, board member at large and social director, met at the fountain on Le Grande Drive for drinks and snacks.
The Town of Addison is pet friendly. There are two dog parks, one at the end of Le Grande in the greenbelt park. And, it seems, the HOA is pet-friendly, too.The fountain provided a place for a cool dip in the water for more than one pooch.
An Addison police officer stopped by to check out the festivities.
Homes in the ATHOA include all but 3 of the homes on Le Grande, all the homes on Rush, Leadville and Pokolodi, the homes on the odd side of Winter Park, and the two northmost homes on Sherlock. If you live in one of these homes and did not receive an email invitation, get in touch with one of the members of the Board of Directors (I'm the secretary). If you don't live in the Addison Timbers HOA but would like to, I can help you find a home here.
Not everyone who lives here has a dog, by the way. For those other residents who are cat owners owned by cats, here's what my two were up to: Knickknack took a nap in the sink and Bric-a-brac claimed my office chair. Smart kitties! It was still in the 90s last night at the fountain.
Another ATHOA social will be held in September. Look for the date in the next newsletter.

The on-again off-again rain last Sunday did not deter the residents of Addison's Midway Meadows subdivision. Despite the damp and wind, about 100 of us used the shelter of the tents to get to know our neighbors. The live music along with subs from Jimmy Johns lightened our spirits and filled our tummies.

Addison Police, Fire & EMS personnel joined us. Koby, our K-9 pup, and his handler provided a demonstration, and an Addison police officer on his Segway zigged and zagged through the crowd.

Several members of the Addison Town Council were also in attendance. All in all, a good time was had by everyone, despite the weather!
